It's better to say that these old Khrushchev's buildings is to be destroyed. There's a Moscow city program to destroy these old buildings and build new modern houses. On the first two pictures are those old houses in the process of destroying.

And this is absolutely wrong to say that Kuz'minki is about 45 minutes by subway from Red Square. It's only 15 minutes by metro. Kuz'minki is one of the less prestigious areas of Moscow.

The first couple are definitely emotion-provoking. And I love the boy's face on the window, what a marvelous photo! =)

I agree. I don't know what it is, especially about the first one, but it's a great photograph.

Paradoxically, if you're raised among these boxes, you grow to love them quite a bit. But yes, they are going to be destroyed within the next 5 years, most probably.

This isn't too bad. You can find similar buildings in say, Bergen and Oslo in Norway, and plenty of other places too. Just look for an area that saw heavy building or re-building after world war II.

It kind of reminds me of my school years ... I didn't want to go back there so I was glad my parents never mentioned it . ... I don't remember much since it was 30 years ago already, but I do like the pictures...
