The YOONA HATE Guide
This girl gets so much flack for things that's out of her hands. Antis everywhere bash her left and right, and most of them don't even have evidence to back them up. I, however, do, and in this guide, I will dispel most of the hate towards this wonderful girl.
1) SHE IS NO LONGER GROUP CENTER/FACE/IMAGE, NOT IT'S SEO+YURI
→ Sorry to break it to you kid, but since when did Yuri and Seobb move into the center recently? Let's see... Oh! Let's start with the Genie mini-album, since we're going by recent times.
Who's in the center? YOONA. Now let's go to the second album Oh!.
To Yuri's defense, she's technically in the center if you counted them (but then Jessica would be too), but going by center in that they catch your eye first, then it goes to Hyo and Jessica, since they're right in the center. Now let's go to the repackaged album, Run Devil Run.
It's not even the matter of being center--she's the only one there. Then there's the official poster for it.
Who's in the center? YOONA. Now, the most recent thing they have is the CF for Domino's Pizza. Let's see the video.

So how can you say that the center of SNSD is no longer Yoona. If you were going to point this out, you could have at least chosen members who are in the center when Yoona's not--like the instance Taeyeon was in the center. I wouldn't have been as mad. Sure, Seobb has WGM with Yong and the cosmetics CF, and Yuri had Invincible Youth, but that's solo activities. It is in no way SNSD as a whole and therefore cannot be made a valid argument. They receive the most attention recently, but they are by no means "center". Get your facts straight.
2) SHE IS NO LONGER DANCING TRIO, NOW IT'S SYOUNG+SEO W/HYOYUL
→ Okay, first of all, that's four people. You just lost the argument there. Second of all, the dancing trio was, is, and always will be Hyo, Yuri, and Yoona. The dancing quintet is Hyo, Yuri, Yoona, Sooyoung, and Seobb. The third member of the trio cycles because Yoona's not available. When you see Sooyoung or Seobb taking place of Yoona, that was because she couldn't make it due to other activities. In their most recent dance performances, Yoona was always there.
3) 42S SINGING LINE SINCE DEBUT 3 YEARS AGO? ISH SHE A SINGER? THAT CAN'T EVEN COMPARED TO TAYEON LINE IN 1 BALLAD SONG.
→ Please type this first in word or something because your grammar hurts my eyes. Let's get one thing straight:
YOONA IS A MAIN DANCER, NOT A MAIN SINGER
So there goes your argument about her being a singer. She's the most terrible singer in the whole of SNSD so it's no surprise she barely has any lines. She didn't even sing at all for Star Star Star. SNSD isn't a singing group--it's a Pop group. Dancing is just as important in their overall package as their singing. If it was Davichi, then I'd be complaining. But they're not. Also, SNSD HAS NINE MEMBERS, plus, statistically speaking (from this post), Yoona got more lines than Seobb, who's a main singer. And the comparison to Taeyeon, WHOSE MAIN POSITION IN THE GROUP IS SINGING, is just plain stupid. Comparing Yoona's singing to Taeyeon is like comparing Tiffany's dancing to Hyo. Why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT HER SPECIALTY. She's packaged as a DANCER, and it's what she does best. And those 42 seconds are only from their singles. Over the span of their career of 3 years, Yoona sang way more than 42 seconds because they have 50+ songs overall. So that's a moronic comment to make. You just made yourself look hella dumb.
4) SHE HAS NO JOB NO ONE WANTS TO HIRE HER
→ Seriously? Have you not seen the Caribbean Bay CF? In all of SNSD, she was chosen to be one of them.
And still, Seobb and Yuri were there, the people who you say are the "center", but the whole video was about Yoona. That's two strikes in one bb, you're losing fast. Also, who could forget her ad for Cartier LOVE?
5) AND THEY ALSO CAN'T ACCEPT THE FACT 'TAEYEON IS MOST POPULAR'
→ First of all, this attacks the fans, not Yoona herself, so this part was kinda dumb in itself. Second, let's see what popular actually means.

I shouldn't even make this argument, because it's obvious. Judging by the definition alone, Taeyeon is not the most popular. I'm sure Taeyeon stans would agree. Yes, Taeyon sang for a couple of OSTs and appeared in WGM. Maybe the headlines she made too recently, but that's about it. Yoona, on the other hand, had FOUR dramas. She had SIXTEEN endorsements under her belt. She appeared in other people's music videos, namely Super Junior's U and Marry U.
She won SIX awards for her dramas. I guess it's pretty safe to say Yoona's the most popular out of all the SNSD members. But if you're still skeptical, let's see what other people have to say.

That's only from the first page, and even then that's not all of the responses. And scour the entire internet for the exact same question, you'll find the same responses. So by definition and popular opinion, Yoona's the most popular of the entire group. Sorry. :)
6) WORLD JUST REALIZED THIS PLAIN JANE IS TOO OVERRATED
→ I'm not going to argue the PLAIN JANE part because beauty is subjective. If she/he thinks Yoona's plain, that's her business. I can't say otherwise. BUT, the OVERRATED part... That's where the gold is.
First of all, let me make this plain and simple:
OVERRATED IS NOT THE SAME THING AS OVEREXPOSED, WHICH IS WHAT SHE IS
Calling her overrated is an insult. You're implying that she's getting more attention and respect for the talent that she lacks. What's wrong with this image? EVERYTHING. Yoona is a dancer, and she is recognized as such. If anybody's overrating her, it's for dancing. Even then, she has the talent to back it up, so I'm really failing to see the "overrated" part.
Look at her dance. Excuse your face. If you say she's overrated for her singing... Well, we've been through this, haven't we? I'm not even going through it again.
If you mean she's overEXPOSED, then I would have to agree with you. It goes without question. She's the center/face of SNSD, she has been in countless CFs and endorsements, you see her in other groups' MVs, she has had multiple dramas and won awards for them, she's almost always in variety shows, etc. So yeah, "overexposed", yes. "Overrated"? Not even close. That's six strikes bb.
These two just crack me up. Comments like these are so redundant, it shouldn't even be taken seriously anymore. Let me break this down, kk?
7) LAST TIME I CHECKED YOU'RE NOT THE LEADER OF SNSD. WHY THE FCK ARE YOU IN FRONT OF ALL THINGS?
→ Ahhh, the "center" hate. Alright. Let me make this clear.
SM PUTS YOONA IN THE CENTER OF SNSD, NOT HER
I hate when people insinuate that she actually has a say on whether or not she should be center. Did she choose to be in the center of everything? NO. Did she choose to be the face of SNSD? NO. SM Entertainment did. So this hate shouldn't even be directed towards her. SM is responsible for everything in her career. They're the reason she got all those endorsements and dramas. It's not like on stage, she goes, "Forget these people behind me, just focus on me." She doesn't do that. So I don't see why you would hate her for something she can't help. True, more members should get more exposure, but then you should be petitioning to SM instead of bashing Yoona. Is it her fault she's talented? Is it her fault she's easy on the eyes? Is it her fault that most of Korea loves her? NO.
These comments are just pure idiotic, seriously, and in no way can make someone harbor that much hate for the girl.
8) SHE SUCKS. HAVE YOU SEEN HER ACT?
→ Alright. Not everyone might have the same tastes in acting (cause some people think Megan Fox is actually a very good actress), but one's skill in acting cannot be refuted by mere dislike. Let's see, how many awards did the girl win?
Did you count? If not, let me do the counting. One... Two... Three... Four... Five... SIX. She won SIX AWARDS for her dramas. You may not like her style of acting, but in order to win those awards, what must you have? Oh yeah. TALENT. The awards committee saw something in her that they thought was deserving of these awards, so saying "SHE SUCKS" is not really a valid argument considering how much she's accomplished with her "SUCKY" acting.
I won't counter the "PLASTIC SURGERY" issue because I really don't know for sure. I, however, will talk about my opinion.
I don't think she had plastic surgery. Why? Because if you had plastic surgery, certain features won't be able to move as fluidly as the rest of your skin. Take Uee, for example.
After the surgery on her eyes, she always has that cold look stuck on her face. Why? Because she can't really move the muscles around her eyes to evoke a powerful emotion. This is why she has that "zombie" glare during performances and variety shows.
Now, Yoona. It is true that her nose looked more bulbous in the "U" video (see above), but to be fair, that MV was released in 2006. Two years before SNSD debuted. 2 years is a long time for development, and considering she was at least 14-16 years old then, her hormones are still haywire, and her face have probably refined after those years. I didn't have this nose when I was younger (mine's the opposite of Yoona's case), so that's why this is why I think is the case for her. But I'm not 100% sure because there hasn't been a public proclamation yet.
9) IS SHE EVEN EATING? SHE LOOKS LIKE A STICK!
→ Okay. There's this thing called metabolism. I think you might have heard of it? Some have it faster than others, and most likely Yoona has a fast one. If you would watch shows where the members are eating, you could see that she eats a lot (probably not as much as Sooyoung but still). Also, she's in a Pop group, and what do they do? THEY DANCE. What does dancing do? Keep your body slim. Plus, she had been training for six years before debuting, so her body has adopted to the hectic life she's thrown herself into. And while we're on the subject of sticks, HAVE YOU SEEN SOOYOUNG AND JESSICA?
These girls have almost 0% body fat. Seriously. How can you say Yoona's too skinny when these two are way skinnier?
10) HAVE YOU SEEN HER DANCE? TIFFANY IS A MUCH MORE BETTER DANCER THAN HER!
→ Wait, what? TIFFANY IS A MUCH MORE BETTER DANCER THAN HER! Hmmm... I think there's something wrong with that sentence.
I think it's widely known that Tiffany is the weakest dancer in the group. So... What is the point of this comment? HAVE YOU SEEN HER DANCE? Yes, I have, actually. And she's an excellent dancer. What are you asking, exactly?

11) AND SHE'S TALENTLESS.
→ If I see this comment one more time, I swear I will go off on somebody. First, let me define what "talent" means.

Let's see... Does Yoona have a special natural ability or aptitude? YES. It's called DANCING and acting to an extent.
This girl was busting moves since she was in elementary. SM Entertainment saw that and decided to make her a trainee. For six years, she improved her dancing skills and eventually took a place in SNSD's Dancing Trio along with Hyo and Yuri. To say that she's talentless means you're either extremely jealous or just plain ignorant. If she was talentless, why on Earth do you think SM paid one speck of attention to her in the first place? They saw her aptitude for dancing at a young age and they worked on it and she became proficient. I don't know what your definition of "talent" is, but if you disregard Yoona's dancing capacity as unfitting for that word, then your definition is horribly wrong.
12) 8>9 YOONA NEEDS TO GO.
→ No matter how you look at this statement, it's wrong. Without Yoona, there is no SNSD. Just like if there were no Jessica or Taeyeon or Hyo. Yoona is actually a driving force to get SNSD known. When she appeared in MVs, people looked for her and found SNSD. When she did "You Are My Destiny", people knew her as Jang Saebyuk, not as Yoona, and whenever she signed for fans, she would always say, "Hello. I am SNSD's Yoona." Through her, SNSD got more noticed by the general public. Without her as the face of SNSD, I think their popularity wouldn't have been as widely known. SM is smart--they know Yoona's face fits the Korean standard for beauty: a good body ratio, long, flowy hair, toned body, a sweet smile, flawless complexion, and large eyes. When they marketed SNSD with Yoona, that's how they got known, even if you deny it or not. So Yoona leaving would take a huge toll on the SNSD fanbase. Yoona's absence will cripple SNSD, and even if you don't like her, the group will drastically change.
Now, if you really hate Yoona for any of these reasons, I don't think you really have a reason to hate her. When you make these comments, you just sound so insecure and jealous, and it makes you look dumb. You could say you dislike Yoona because you're indifferent towards her/never really paid much attention to her/or she just possesses an atmosphere that makes you uncomfortable. If you do, then I wouldn't be as mad and you wouldn't look as moronic. But when you shell out these excuses for your blinding hate for her, then I really question your intellect. NOBODY CAN HATE A PERSON THAT MUCH WITHOUT THEM PERSONALLY ATTACKING YOU OR KNOWING THEM IN PERSON. The hate is just dumbfounding. I think most of the hate (as well as SNSD's hate as a whole) is stemming from her ability to be close to their favorite groups, and for some reason, they get very offended. Take, for example, when Donghae posted a picture with him and Yoona backstage.
