Hmmm, feels kinda dickish critiquing something you already bought.. but guess I have too since you called me out specifically lol.

First thing that jumps out at me is the OCZ ram, since they announced that they are going to stop making some models a few months ago. They'll probably still honor RMAs in the long run anyway and its likely nothing to flip about, but it's just something I would've stayed away from to be safe. I personally like G.Skill, and Corsair/Mushkin are both solid. And I dont think OCZ would be much cheaper unless you got a deal ( ... )

Thanks for responding. I knew the sort of position I was putting you in but I also knew I was putting myself at the mercy of being told I'd made horrendous choices by someone with infinity more knowledge than me in the field. In my defence though, I did have a lot of knowledge backed up, used this and bought it over the course of a three hour Skype call with a very knowledgeable friend that'll help my put it together. Oh yeah, I already wrote that ( ... )

Now that I think about it I don't know why I even mentioned the i7 930. Theyre $199 here compared to $195 for the i5.. but that's at Microcenter which is a US only retailer ;x International prices can be wonky sometimes.

The only way a 2GB 5850 could even compete with a 1GB 5870 is when you're talking about 3-monitor eyefinity, where the extra memory can flex its muscle. So you definitely made the right call there.

Oh, and my AIM is 'MarandoPSU' nowadays. Ditched the old screenname from the teenage years, if that's the away message that confused ya :)

I would recommend the Corsair H50 or H70 heat sink, mixed with some low DB fans in a push-pull setup on the radiator, makes nearly no noise. You will pay nearly the same for a good HSF and the results are amazing (Up to 30 degrees less on load over a good HSF).

Also may want to consider upgrading the fan on the GPU, depending on noise and temperature levels. From my experience, some of the latest ATI cards have a tendency to sound like a tank when under load. my XFX HD 4890 managed to drown out the sound of everything in my PC it was that loud, plus a more advanced fan can give lower temperatures for extra overclocking.

With doing that for extra cooling I managed to overclock my CPU another 3 gig and up my GPU to nearly 1 gig clock speed.

No Crossfire? You disappoint me!
