I read an article on AO3 this morning about the New Visitor Portal on Fanlore and thought I'd check it out. Out of curiosity, I typed "Robin of Sherwood" in the search engine and came up with all kinds of stuff, including a screenshot of the index page for the Robin of Sherwood Fanfic Archive! I thought all traces of the Archive had been lost, so ( Read more... )

I miss it too. I'm sorry I couldn't keep it going, but my only choices were to upgrade to a paid account or face yet another website move. I wish we'd had the option back then of having AO3 archive our stories for us. Now AO3 will move stories from websites that are closing down. At the time, my only option was to ask writers to add their stories to AO3 themselves. I didn't have a lot of takers. I think that's what saddens me the most. There are quite a few RoS stories that are no longer online.

I understand why you couldn't keep it going, but what a shame! I didn't submit my stories to AO3 because in retrospect I realised how bad they were!

But they aren't bad! I really like your stories! However, I do know what it's like to be unhappy with a particular work, so I can understand your reluctance to post your fic. It's completely understandable. :-)

It's great to see the Robin of Sherwood Fanfic Archive getting well-deserved recognition in retrospect. It was good to see the screenshot page. I miss the site.

Actually, I think the entry on the RoS Fanfic Archive was quite old as it's mentioned in the present tense -- along with the Fanfic Forum (that LJ community that had such a brief existence). I only found the screenshot page because the main index page for the site had been cached. Anywaaaaaaaaay, it was a nice trip down memory lane to see the screenshot page. I definitely miss it too.
