Well, commercialisation is something that happens anywhere there's a chance to make a buck, but try and tell the average fan at the ground that "it's not even about the game anymore".

As for the players, they are like anyone else, that is there are nice humble guys and there are egotistical arseholes. I don't think it's really fair to say that all footballers act like that.

I will certainly agree with you on one point, that the media overhypes, not just the season as a whole, but quite a lot of individual matches.
Quite often the supposedly huge blow-out matches are rather hum-drum, and a match that barely got a mention beforehand explodes with action.

As you say though, leaving Victoria is hardly going to save you from overhyped sports coverage. Wherever you go there is a local sport that gets complete media saturation.

Look I agree, generalising footy players as all being an arse is probably wrong of me. But you introduce me to one who doesnt think he is God and I'll start enjoying the game. Maybe it's the one's who go out who are the arseholes, while the others are at home with their trophy wives with the little bundle of joy which is plastered all over the newspapers...wasnt there an earthquake in Indo??? LOL

And you are right, footy players are just like the next person, as are muscians and actors, how bout they start acting like it?

I don't know why I hate footy, the reality is I hate so many things about it I'd be hear till the cows come home whinging about it...I follow a team, only to be socially adept to talk to people, and I think it's sad that this is the case; don't like footy and you're crazy...it's this closed mindedness that annoys me which is why I'm such a bitter cunt about it, LOL.

Leaving Victoria won't change a thing, all u will get now is extreme hype of rugby and therefore probably a hate of that as well
