Do spam laws work?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else noticed that over the last couple of days they have gotten a lot less spam? Normally I get quite a bit, but have gotten next to none this weekend. I only thought about it because I read where two men in Virgina were arrested under the state's new spam law.

I haven't been on my computer since Thursday and I was expecting my account to be jammed with spam it was MUCH lighter than usual. I'm liking it!
