The stench of New Year "Resolutions" are hanging in the air. Last year I didn't make any, well technically I didn't, I didn't put anything in writing and I didn't really say anything to anyone that they could hold me too so I didn't have anyone to ( Read more... )

I agree with you - I think you should be able to tick the "I'm blind" box and be done with it. Good point.

Oh, and what's with the learning to drive buzz that's going on?? I must have spoken to about 5 people recently who's new year's resolution....sorry, goals! include to learn to drive. It's bizarre! :)

Well the older you leave it the harder it becomes so I need to get it out of the way instead of finding reasons to put it on the long finger.

I suppose that depends on whether or not you're getting lessons. I reckon that learning to drive when you're older might be easier if you're doing less with your time than you did when you were younger. I'm not getting lessons now, so would happily drive with my L is for Love plate foever, if it weren't for the crack down on Learners that is planned for June. And the dearer insurance I suppose. That is a pain.

I think it's really bad that you get to pass your test once and never get re-tested. I'd be all for driving tests every 3 years or so. Assuming the waiting lists were manageable.

When you get older they can make you resit, I remember my Grandfather was told he'd have to resit so he just stopped driving, he felt it was too much pressure at his age.

Everyone says learning when you're older is harder because it's more difficult to deal with the fear. As it's been so long since I drove the fear has returned.
