“Kikwangie~!”

“Dongwoonie’s calling you. You better go.”

“OK but, you’re not getting rid of me. You’re gonna tell everything later.”

“OK…”

Kikwang slowly turned his back on Yoseob, hoping that the latter would call out his name and hugging him from behind for old time’s sake. He wished that Yoseob would actually blurt out his feelings like once before instead of keeping problems to himself. He could not comprehend why their relationship had grown distant. They were so close and inseparable. Without him, there is no Yoseob and vice-versa.

He missed the good old times they shared not as high school classmates, trainees or band mates but as lovers. They rarely fought and even if they did it was as trivial as who was supposed to do the chores.

He missed hugging Yoseob from the back and watching the happy expression blooming on his face. He yearned for those times where he would grab Yoseob’s hands, intertwining his fingers onto the latter’s as they ran through a rainy street seeking for whatever shelter that could warm their bodies up. Most importantly, he craves for those lips that would cry his name out every time he is needed.

Every so often, he wished that he was the leader instead. Maybe then, Yoseob would cling on to him like how he would with Doojoon now. Perhaps he would be the one giving the hug that the blond needed, the warmth that he covets for to fill the emptiness that grew larger when Kikwang and Yoseob were no longer lovers. He hoped that Yoseob and Doojoon are nothing more than close friends like him and Dongwoon.

-

“Seobie? Seobie are you asleep?”

“Hmm? Kwangie, it’s 4am of course I’d be sleeping…”

“You wanna go to the rooftop with me?”

“But… Doojoonie will be angry if he found out.”

“Oh, yeah… Well, sorry. Go back to sleep ok? Goodnight…”

“Wait. I’ll go but Dongwoonie will be worried if you’re not in bed.”

“He won’t, if we keep this to ourselves.”

The two got off from Yoseob’s bunk slowly, suppressing any possible noise that could wake the other members up especially Doojoon and Dongwoon. He watch the trail of streetlight that crept into the bedroom, making faint outlines on the other’s physique. He was mesmerized by the toned muscles that differ vastly from the cute expression Yoseob wore during public appearances.

It excites him to see Yoseob’s flesh and he could feel his throat getting dry as he watch the gentle movements of the blond wearing clothes slowly as if taunting him to pounce on the meat before him but he could do nothing for there was an invisible barrier erected between them that he never knew of. If he could, he would embrace the older one and lock lips in the heat of passion.

Kikwang grabbed his blanket before signaling to Yoseob that he was ready to go. Frankly speaking, he does not know why he woke the other up to go to the rooftop. It was all pure instinct, the need to do something without having a reason to.

-

The sudden cold morning air that greeted them as they opened the door to the rooftop sent shivers down their spine and the fresh air that invades their lungs rejuvenates their body as if preparing for something unknown to them. Kikwang led Yoseob to a spot where they could see a panoramic view of the Han River and they sat down speechless as their eyes took in the majestic view around them.

He noticed that Yoseob was shivering slightly and took the opportunity to wrap both of them up in the blanket that he brought from the dorm. They sat near one another, close enough to hear the other’s breathing or feel the heat exuding from their body and also the familiar smell that both had forgotten. He mustered up some courage and gave the other a shoulder hug only to find Yoseob shrugging it off.

“Don’t do that, what if Doojoon saw us?”

“Is Doojoon that important to you?”

“Of course he is, isn’t Dongwoon important to you too?”

“ Yeah… Seobie, is Doojoon more important than I am?”

“…”

“…”

"..."

"So, what's wrong with you just now? You look like you've something to tell me.

"Nothing, it's just a headache."

"You don't have to lie to me you know..."

Both of them sat in silence again but this time they are aware of the awkwardness that hung in the air. Their eyes search for something to be distracted at, away from each other to avoid any form of inquisition that would probably hurt their already fragile hearts.

“What would you wish for if there was a shooting star right now?”

“I don’t know. Probably something down to earth like happiness?”

“It’s so dark out here, there’s barely any stars yet alone a shooting star.”

“…”

“What happened to us? We were close once so why the sudden distance?”

“I could ask you the same thing myself, besides Doojoon already closed the gap between us.”

“What is it with you steering the conversation to Doojoon anyway?!”

“I’m sorry; it’s just that I get worked up every time I see you and your boyfriend so happy and I wished that it was just the both of us again…”

“You think Doojoon is my boyfriend? We’re nothing more than close friends you idiot… I mean, you already have Dongwoon so I shouldn't butt in right?”

“Dongwoon? He’s nothing more than my close friend. We’re just two lonely individuals who befriended each other.”

“When were you lonely? You’re always nonchalant about everything, even when it comes to me.”

“I didn’t want you to be worried over me. I know how awkward they were around me when I debuted as AJ, even you… ”

“What do you expect? We’re jealous that you got the chance before us.”

“What about you and Doojoon? You both were so popular and you stuck to him like glue ‘till the point that maybe I lost any hope I had.”

“I, I just wanted you to concentrate on your work. I didn’t want to be a hindrance.”

“…”

“I miss you…”

Again, both sat in silence but this time the air of awkwardness was replaced by a sudden relief as they processed the new found information. It was all a misunderstanding on their part. All they could do now was to smile at the horizon as they thought of what they could do to rebuild their already wrecked up relationship even if it means taking forever.

Kikwang removed the blanket that was covering them and laid it on the cemented floor as he gestured for Yoseob to lie down next to him. The latter rested his head on Kikwang’s biceps and pulling the other into a cuddle; a gesture to mark the demolition on the invisible barrier between them. Both look at the wide sky that is waiting to burst into warm colors signaling the break of dawn and they noticed a quick streak of something.

“Ah, did you saw that??”

“Yeah; did you make a wish??”

A/N: Sorry, I couldn't make it any more dramatic / heart-wrenching even if I wanted to 'cause I'm too tired. It's influenced by room137's literary works. This is actually a response story to "Drifting Apart". I don't think it's my style of writing 'cause I'm more of a heart breaker kinda person but I think it's a fairly decent work. I hope you liked it!! =D
