Chicago is full of concerts! And I am going to some!

Here's the trawl so far:

January 10th @ the Metro: Streetlight Manifesto, with openers Grand Buffet and the Stitch Up - I have a universal rule of concerts that whenever three bands are playing the same show, one band will be awesome, one band will kind of meh, and the third band will be so ( Read more... )

Random question/observation/click moment:

I've been reading the His Dark Materials series and I am about a quarter of the way through The Subtle Knife... I'm guessing your lj name is from the witch queen type person, yes? Or is is a complete coincidence?

You see an awful lot of concerts. I see an awful few of concerts. HOWEVER there will be multiple musical performances when I go see the Pope in April!! granted some will be by priests...

Have you heard Eef Barzelay? I saw him open for Ben Folds ages ago in Rochester as the frontman of a band called Clem Snide. The crowd reaction to them was pretty mixed, but Andy and I really dug his set, enough so that we bought his CD at the show. The CD, however, fell far short of his performance. As it was, it was a stripped down performance, it was mostly Eef Barzelay and an acoustic guitar with a drummer occasionally joining in for some songs. So, yeah, I imagine his solo performances aren't much different from Clem Snide. His voice is super-nasal and annoying (Linell-esque even), he's semi-alt-country, but probably worthwhile.

Never heard of this guy. I'm going for the Folds, anything else is just window dressing. :)
