Yeah, I'd have to agree with the "run-down dorm" comparison, having lived in Womack.
As for probation officers, some are nice. Others suck ass. Particularly the one who handled me after I ended up on probation when I got pulled over and was unaware that my insurance had expired (the date on the card was several months ahead). Bastard tried to calm me down outside of the courtroom, then flat out blasted me in front of the judge. And he wasn't even the one I started off with (a.k.a. "the nice one"). And don't even get me started on the psycho bitch they had working in Stone Mountain, GA. *shudder*
I think a lot of them get off on the power trip.
Had I known better then that jail ≠ prison, I probably would have just done the time. Jail is boring as hell, and pretty much everyone else there was making the best of it.

Those assholes will get you for anything. And they'll send you to jail and probation for anything. I used to not be concerned (at all) about being tossed in jail, but now I know how easy it is to end up there--and for no crime befitting the punishment.
