Yeah...

I can honestly say that I had a better weekend than you.

Well, Paris was amazing. We (Diane, Karen, and I.. plus Susan later) stayed in the ghetto (gare du nord = ghetto)(literally). On the way to our hostel (after getting lost and going to the wrong one), we passed a woman who was balancing a huge bag of onions on her head. Then, we saw "the pimp cane." It was beautiful.

Once we arrived at our hostel, we decided some champagne was in order ("If anyone deserves to drink right now, it's us").. So, I whipped out the 84 centime champagne, and it was also beautiful. Following some boozing, we found a kebab shop in addition to two friends (Jon and Matt) from CIDEF. Before eating, we found an indian store that sold some booze.. So, we bought some desperados (amazing french beer with tequila in it.. yum). We tried drinking at the kebab shop.. but, soon, the workers told us that it was forbidden.. So, we took it to the streets.

After eating our pizza and drinking some more (and taking orange boob pictures), we finally left for the discoteque (upon leaving, i fell down an entire flight of stairs). We met up with Aaron and some of his friends from back home. There were some amusing pictures in front of SNCF train. Then, we took the metro to the discoteque and found out that it was pretty lame (according to more CIDEF people who were there).. So, we left. We then waited outside for forever in search of a cab.. But, it was a fun wait. Once we were back at the hostel, I fell asleep really fast. When I woke up, Jon and Matt were gone (to Barcelona to see Jack Johnson). So, we returned to the number three.

After breakfast, Susan (from ISU and my new roommate for next year) arrived. Then, she gave me the best present in the world.

A CASE OF MOUNTAIN DEW!!!

I loved her for it. I missed the smell of that soda, oh so much.

So, after enjoying some mountain dew, we walked around the ghetto for a bit. :) Then, we saw Sacré Coeur.

After that, we took the metro to the Eiffel Tower where we climbed up the stairs (700). It was fun, and I only fell up the stairs twice. :)

After the ET, we walked to Notre Dame. Then, I visited one of my new favorite spots in Paris.. the Shakespeare and Company bookstore.. Gosh. I loved it. I also found a new favorite author. I am now head over heels in love with.. David Sedaris (the book i bought was "dress your family in corduroy and denim). I can't wait to find/buy some more of his books. fkja;flkjda;l. love. love. love.

Okay.. so, after the book store of my life, we made our way back to the hostel where we ate and hung out... Ray came over for a bit, but Susan hadn't slept in around 40 hours.. So, it was a low key night.

The next day.. On the way to our first stop, I saw the tunnel where Princess Di burned alive... hahaha. Our FIRST stop was the Waste Management museum. It was located in a sewer. it was really really neat. It showed all of the tools used to clean the sewers which is really difficult to do with an older city. It also showed the changes of the sewer systems since the middle ages.. it was neat.

Following the sewers, we ate the best food ever. I loved it. I'm not sure what it was.. but it was sooo much better than kebab.

We went back to the hostel where naps should have been taken, but i couldn't sleep.. So, with Diane, we booze studied. By the time, we were ready to leave... I was fairly drunk (aka, I was wasted).. On the metro, I proceeded to make friends by kicking and punching french people (in a playful manner) in order to start a conversation. After a very long metro ride, we wound up at china town (i didn't know that paris had a china town.. but anyway).. At the restaurant, I thought I ordered beef, but I guess i ordered pork.. But I kept asking the waitress over and over again, "Ou est le boeuf??" (where is the beef).. Yeah.. It was fairly ridiculous, and she had to bring out the menu in order to calm me down. :)

After China town, we went back to the moulin rouge.. where i visited my first erotica museum.. I finally got to watch porn in black and white. It was pretty awesome. There 7 floors of erotica.. but I guess the one museum in amsterdam is even better.. So, i guess i will be able to make a better comparison after that..

ON Sunday..

we went to..

get ready..

EURODISNEY!

It was amazing!
We snuck on the train there and back.. So, it cost us two euros to get there and back. :)
I got to ride on some rollercoasters. Then, i went on star tours and almost vomited! party time!
it was not as much fun as the disney parks back home.. but it was hella weird to be in something so american in france. garrrrrrrrv. we were there for around 5 hours, and it was awesome.

yeah.

that was my weekend.

i loved it.

paris is now a lot higher in my book.

i hope everyone's spring break is going well! love!
