Painting a hairdryer.

Oct 04, 2008 12:26

This is such an odd little subculture I'm part of.

I finally got the hairdryer masked so I can repaint it. (It's needed painting since last Halloween.) I am now waiting for the temperature to get above 60 (it's currently 56.4 degrees, high today supposed to be 68) so I can use the spraypaint.

Remembered that I'd written down tips for spraypainting on my website, and indeed, there they are.

Pre-soaked the spray paint bottle in a dish of warm water. It really does help!
I remembered to put down drop cloths, and now have an ever-so-slightly sparkly garden hose (I put on the chrome paint first).

...and now that the sun is going down it's only 70deg here in sunny SoCal... I don't think I've ever considered the temperature before spray painting something... Was surfing looking for MANhand silver gloves and Ruth's thread came up...did those silver gloves from eBay work? Or are they more grey? Would it fit a manhand?

I don't recall getting any from eBay I was happy with.

Every time I've done a search for metallic silver gloves, a site that showed over the elbow gloves on a man has come up, and I've never listed them because they were too pricey for me.

Now I can't find them, of course.

I am very happy with my "Hot in Hollywood" metallic leather gloves, which were available in Large (and I think also XL). It's rare to find sized gloves these days. I bought these from the Home Shopping Network, feeling very foolish and knowing I should buy two pairs. Though much as I hate shelling out $18 for crappy nylon lame' gloves that don't fit and shed the metallic plating within weeks, it was hard to shell out an additional $50 for a second pair and I didn't.

Now of course I wish I had. They appear to be discontinued.

If you find the site showing the male arms in over the elbow metallic gloves, please let me know. Pricey and the wrong length or not, I should list them.

Yep. I totally understand. It's for such a subculture I've wrapped up others in duct tape purely for costume reasons.
