Summary: Patrick Stump has a reality dating TV show and he's about to make his final decision.
“All right girls,” Dirty announced as he came into the orange living room carrying a guitar shaped tray with a letter on top of it. “Patrick has something planned for you four. Amanda, why don’t you read it?” Amanda jumped up from the couch and skipped to the tray. She picked up the card and read it. “Hello there my freaky four,” Amanda looked up to smile at the other 3 girls. “I had a fun time with Taylor and Ruth on our date last night, so it pains me to send two of you home today. I’ll see you girls later tonight.”
Ruth’s heart started pounding along with Amanda’s. They really didn’t want to be eliminated tonight. They both developed very strong feelings for Patrick over the last few weeks. Ruth had felt her chances were much stronger because Taylor did not make the best impression last night. Unless you count screaming at a waiter because he gets your order wrong and then storming out when Patrick tried to calm you a good impression. Amanda sat down beside Ruth as she regretted her fight with Delaney. Of course, the cameras were rolling and caught the fight. The producers live for this moment. But it really wasn’t her fault that Delaney was caught calling her boyfriend. And then she had the guts to deny it. You don’t start a fight if you weren’t calling your boyfriend. Amanda thought.
The producers of the show had lined the girls up and took them to the stage that they had stood when there were twenty of them. Now they were four going on to two. They stood and waited for Patrick to come. Every girl’s heart in the room fluttered whether it was from anxiety or excitement. His hat secure on his head, Patrick stepped next to a table where only two guitar picks lay. He nervously glanced up at the cameras then at them. “This was a very hard decision to make,” He said, the guitar picks twiddling in his fingers. “So I’m going to make this quick and painless. Taylor, Delaney, Can you come down here please?” Both girls walked off of the platform, smiling towards him. Amanda looked away from the camera while Ruth looked down at the floor, telling herself not to cry.
“I just wanted to say that I don’t think we have reached the same connection that I wanted us to be in.” All girls’ jaws dropped just then. “Sorry but your time is up.” Taylor’s eyes started to narrow into a glare while Delaney just stood there, dumbfounded. Taylor huffed and stormed off of the stage while Delaney slowly followed. Patrick watched them leave and when the door had closed he looked back at Amanda and Ruth. He shot them the smile that made Ruth’s heart swoon and Amanda smile. “Girls,” He simply said and they both walked quickly to him. “Do you still want to be stumped?” They all smiled at his catchphrase. “Of course I would.” Said Ruth. “I would love to.” Amanda replied. He gave the dark skinned girls the guitar picks. “Well pack your bags. We’re going Cancun!”
PART 2
Ruth was sitting on her bed, replaying her wonderful date in her head. The candle lit dinner on the beach then a night in Patrick’s room can’t be beaten, right? Then why did she feel a knot in her stomach when she saw that Amanda still hadn’t arrived from her date. A walkie-talkie from one of the crew had gone off saying to turn on the cameras. Ruth had ignored them as she did the last few weeks. A knock on the door was heard. Ruth rolled her eyes and got out of bed to open it. Amanda stood there, smiling and her heel straps resting against her fingers. Ruth looked at her up and down then left back to the room without a word.
Amanda’s smile grew bigger and followed Ruth into their room. “It was so amazing last night! That night we spent was…wow,” She plopped onto her bed making sure Ruth heard her. Ruth tried everything not to hear her. “That’s nice.” She muttered holding a pillow to her chest. “Yeah, it was. It was the most amazing night of my life.” Amanda smiled at herself. She knew she made her feel insecure and she had a pretty good chance of winning tonight. The she thought about all the times Ruth and Patrick had alone time and that was far more alone time than she had with Patrick. “No Amanda, you’re going to win this,” She told herself. “You’re going to win this.”
Both girls walked down the hotel stairs down to the beach and to the spots they were supposed to stand in. The hot wind caressed their salon done hair, beautiful newly bought dresses and made up faces. The ocean waves crashing at the shores weren’t as loud enough as the girls’ hearts. Patrick stood at least 12 feet away from them. He cleared his throat. “It isn’t easy for me to find love so on a reality show it seemed less likely. But I have met two incredible women that take up a place in my heart. This is why it’s so hard.” He sighed then from behind his back, he pulled out a blue and orange hat. “This is my favorite hat to go to my favorite girl. Let’s get this over with. Amanda, can you please step forward.”
Ruth couldn’t breathe. She didn’t expect for it to hurt this bad. She couldn’t cry, the cameras were rolling and her eye makeup would be ruined. She looked up at the new couple and saw Amanda walking away from him. Wait what just happened? “Ruthie, can you come over?” “Oh my God, he chose me!” She basically jumped to her destination. “The great chemistry that we have is unbearable. I always feel like myself and a new person around you.” He placed the hat on her head and placed his hands on her hips. “So, are you stumped?” Ruth smiled. “Always have been.” She pulled him into a kiss that neither Patrick nor the camera would forget.
