Stop the burn!

I almost never post. But I am posting today - I am asking everyone I know on LJ to send WET WINDLESS thoughts to my state. I am a good 30 miles from the closest fires here in Colorado but there are many people/places/animals that are being devastated by these fires. So any good thoughts you can spare for my beloved state - please do so. If you want ( Read more... )

My SAR team is on alert should things start burning here. We've been lucky so far but have so much pine beetle kill and lots of deadfall. We had an outdoor training last night and it rained a little bit. We all looked at the sky and said, come on down. We don't mind getting wet, the ground and trees need the water. Desperately.

It is so much cooler out today and no winds so far. It's so scary - the fires in the springs are literally jumping over the prevention ditches directly to the houses there. So friggin' scary! Anyone who thinks fires aren't living entities might want to think again. *shivers at the thought*

The situation in the Springs is insane. My friends S&S have BOTH of their sets of parents living with them up here because they've been evacuated from their homes down there. Can you imagine your parents and in-laws in your home under circumstances like these? *shudder*

Aiyeeyai! How stressful! This is the craziest summer I've ever had here. And we are talking MANY summers! I just hope it stops soon but that is very doubtful.

Thanks Trepkos. It's so hazy that you can't even see the mountains today. So far the fire is being contained but if the wind changes it could get worse. Almost 400 homes have burned down. And the worst part? It might be arson. That just kills me. Unbelievable.

People can be heinous. Tripa peat forest is burning now, because agribusiness is trying to destroy the Orang utans' home.

I've been thinking about all of you, hoping the weather co-operates. (Still catching up from L.A. trip.)

We hung out a lot in Santa Monica and I wish we'd had longer. I leave for PA on the 9th, 10th?
