No, but I think sometimes you need to change the way you think about (yourself and) other people in order to communicate in a way that's productive.

i just started a new job as a dialoguer for Children International, the people in the streets who try to get you to stop and sign up to sponsor a child in poverty. It's definitely the hardest job I've ever had. It's like a crash course in human relations, philosophy and psychology. Part of my problem is not being able to relate on a one to one level with the people who do stop. So when I read that quote I thought it was really a good thing for me to remember when I'm out there. What you said applies as well, because my reaction to people walking around with iPhones saying they can't afford to give $22 is to tell them they're full of shit, cough it up!
