Dear Freddie
Thank you for your lovely long letter - such a shame all the wet weather prevented us meeting up during my winter break.
I went out with a patrol again this weekend despite the lack of undead threat - I've been learning a new miracle and wanted the chance to test it out. I did get to try it a few times but am going to volunteer myself for some guarding duties between missions to be certain I've got the hang of it.
I didn't know a lot of the other patrol members that well but Rico, the might priest, was there again although without the civilising influence of his sister, Dizzy. He was actually quite friendly this time, but intermittently, which was odd. Perhaps Dizzy had asked him to play nicely and he kept having to remind himself?
Although, there was an odd moment where I felt very... pleasantly inclinded towards Marshal Isambard. I mean, he seems a pretty reasonable chap; didn't recoil in horror from any suggestions of chaos and was always grateful when I helped out with healing but this was different. Almost as though there was a minute or two where we were best of friends. Regardless, it passed while I was praying and I went back to despairing at the lack of common sense amongst our fellows.
So, we were in these dark caves and, while we did have an Illuminati with us (Alberich, who is also very reasonable) he couldn't be everywhere at once so we also started off with a few torches. Only it seems, no-one had the sense to think of lighting the spares before the originals burnt out and, despite being in the dark when encountering creatures igniting their tabards, cloaks and trousers, they also didn't think of lighting even one torch off the flames.
One of the Guards (Tahalin) seems especially friendly. I was particularly flattered to be called over to "do my thing" by which she meant weaknessing the enemy creature. Always good to be known for a useful trick. The other Guard present (Michael) was a little more reserved but still more than happy to accept my Freedom casting, which I feel is a good sign.
Hopefully I will continue to get to know people here a little better - it would definitely help to have allies if any undead or necromancers turn up! Yes, I said if, the more time passes, the more I feel able to relax that this place is safe after all, though I shan't let my guard down complete. Constant viligance, as old Humact Alastor always used to say...
I look forward to hearing more about your adventures in Norhault - tell me if the library is everything we imagined it would be. Maybe I'll get to visit some day.
May the blessings of the Seven be with you.
Love Lexi
