Dear Wren
I hope this finds you well. I'm sorry I can't attend the Moot but look forward to seeing you at the Gathering.
As you probably know, I've been looking into where we can find Charles - I hope you don't mind that as soon as I heard you were descended from him I began looking into your family tree.
I can give you more details privately but I wanted you to be warned - Charles has been preying on your family all the way back to the exodus from Kammoth, and maybe before. It seems Charles has been taking at least a third from each branch of your family over the generations - I thought originally to feed but then I began recognising names from your family tree among the members of the vampire cult on Far Reach; he is actually turning them into his own kind and possibly believes he is doing them a favour. Please be very careful not to go off alone with anyone you don't know well.
However, with that in mind he, and his allies, have a weakness if you are prepared to use it - your blood connection to them could be turned into a weapon against them, either by craft or by ritual - something targetted directly to the family line.
I'm truly sorry I couldn't be there in person to tell you of this and hope we can speak further at a later date.
Yours in service to the True Unicorns
Elspeth
Dear Cal
I hope this finds you well.
My research into the location of Charles Telwar has turned up some interesting information and, while I will be happy to discuss it at length at the Gathering, I wanted you to be forewarned of some of the most pressing parts.
Firstly, there is a very high chance Charles is basing himself out of Blood Isle and that the undead abominations there are his forces.
Secondly, he has changed his modus operandi since Far Reach - historically he has always been the intelligence behind a stronger ally, now he is acting on his own. Either he has run out of allies or he now believes he is strong enough to take the faction on himself. Not that he is entirely alone - the unliving of Blood Isle are twisted beyond normal corruption and he does not have the skills to create such an army himself.
Thirdly, there is a chance he is no longer a vampire exactly - I know bloodlines are well hidden but I can't find any evidence he has been connected to a circle of sufficient power since the Cataclysm yet it seems he is not weakened as he should be from that. Likely his unknown ally on Blood Isle has done something to his pattern too - possibly making it alien or even magical in nature - don't make any assupmtions about his weaknesses based on his being a typical vampire, even one of his great age.
Fourthly, I have sent some information to Wren about her family connections to him - this may give us another weapon against him but I feel it should be her decision to make.
Lastly, the more I investigate, the more I feel the elemental guardians of creation are a lost cause, as much as I wish otherwise - I can't imagine he wouldn't have destroyed the Wardstone of Vortex unless he has already corrupted it. Charles appears to be intending to turn the magical nature of Mauritanja to Necromancy and Unlife - think #EvilUnlifeCity.
Hoping this helps in my absence
Yours
Elspeth Cavendish
