Humacti Central

I recently attended a patrol in the area of White Tree.

Despite the concerning briefing of a manor house mysteriously appearing in the woods and villagers showing no reaction to this oddity, fortunately no evidence was found of necromancy or undeath.

I personally spoke with half a dozen villagers, none of whom showed evidence of charms.

We then proceeded into the woods and, whilst the individuals encountered demonstrated powers of death, no necromancy was observed and no undead were seen.

Lastly, there was no evidence of necromancy within the manor and the lord was not undead.

There was one small matter I almost hesitate to mention as I didn't observe it myself. Whilst we were in the village, members of the patrol observed a shadowy figure walk up to a nearby bush and then disappear within. The villagers they were with did not see the figure. When they went to investigate they found a message on the ground (which was relevant to resolving the mission) but no signs of the figure. I was not given the opportunity to investigate this so have no evidence if it was necromantic or not.

On a slightly separate matter, the local garrison should perhaps be examined. The Sergeant who briefed us handed out symbols which he had been ordered to give us which were marked with possible blood stains. He could not explain them. I enclose the symbol handed to me for your investigation.

Yours

Sergeant Bright

The manor house has disappeared again and no undead were found so all should be well.

I think you should know that Pathfinder Cynic (sp?) put Warden Dawn (sp?) in charge almost immediately, which was probably for the best as the Pathfinder seemed to prefer not to get involved in any fighting. The Warden did reasonably well for what he claimed to be his first command but may need some anger management classes judging by his repeat battering of already downed foes and shouting match with Druid Carrack (who did seem to be deliberately provoking him, admittedly).

Dear Freddie

Thank you for my birthday present, albeit late! I'm looking forward to seeing in a few weeks, though it's a shame Mum and Dad can't make it.

This week's mission sounded suspicious - a magically appearing manor house and oblivious villagers - but fortunately turned out not to be a vampire, or similar undead abomination. Instead we encountered what I can only describe as humanoid animals (though no unicorns, only typical woodland type creatures) fighting each other. The defending side was made up of moles and hedgehogs and mice and the attackers were rats, weasels and stoats led by a fox.

We came across them mid-battle so I thought of Hevish and tried diplomacy, which seemed to work at least initially. Unfortunately the attacking side seemed to be made up of Might followers and those weaker individuals the Might followers had bullied in helping them. We managed to defeat their leader with judicious use of weakness (not me this time, Seeker got there first) so hopefully those he had been oppressing will be able to break free.

Many of the patrol were familiar to me - I'm sure I've mentioned Seeker before? Among the new faces was an earth mage named Thyrian who I reckon you would like - he has very much your sort of sense of humour, which helped lighten up an otherwise miserable day (the weather decided to turn out very much like my rookie year).

Once inside the manor house we found some ingenious puzzles - a room where neither of the visible doors worked but the paintings guided you to a hidden door in a disguised wall and another where Seeker managed to get herself turned into a sheep (I didn't manage to get the full story of that but fortunately it wore off). The lord of the manor looked like some strange sea creature but was geased, possibly to believe he was human. As soon as Seeker was able to convince him otherwise, the manor house faded away again.

Take care and I look forward to seeing you soon

Love
Lexi
