Just reading "triple nested ternary opererators" makes me feel anxious. Though it does roll off the tongue quite nicely.

Congrats on the new job! I don't think I've ever been to Aldgate, so cannot offer any opinion about walking around it.

Let me know if you find any particularly nice cafes/sandwich shops around Aldgate - I know several good pubs around there but few cafes.

It might be a bit too far for a lunchtime, depending on where your office is, but Long Shot Coffee at 127 Leman Street looked very interesting when I was doing restaurant surveys for Loncon last spring. Interesting, unusual sandwiches including some rather inventive vegetarian/vegan options.
