Almost December.  Time does fly... and apparently only in one direction.

There are a few folks at the motorcycle/social club that I'm at that are leaving.  Recently we had a spate of people leaving for interclub politics reasons (people having issues with one another), people leaving because of of who dates who, and people leaving because of family ( Read more... )

I think losing people we hang around with is kind of the direction of things in the mobile/information age. I moved 6 times in 1996-2001, almost all for reasons moderately beyond my control. The good news is that I made a lot of friends in those cities, but the bad news is that I had to leave those friends, and once I got to Michigan a lot of the people I knew here left me, too ( ... )

Heck, most of my life has been people drifting away without a word when they've found someone new to socialize with. Being left behind sucks, but it's the way life is for some of us.

I haven't heard of steam ovens before. That's kinda neat!

Yeah...we've found our social circle shrinking before COVID. Our bestest friends moved to Seattle, my two best girlfriends before that...a podcast I listened to last week said friendships only tend to last about 7 years. I'd like to think it's more than that, but hmm...hope December is treating you well!

I was just chatting with another friend the other day, we hadn't been doing the greatest job of keeping in touch, seems like we ended up discussing how groups drift apart and all that, too. A lot of folks are definitely feeling it, likely more acutely due to COVID messing with other socialization.
