Just some random stuff because I haven't updated in ages.

If you like historical fiction set in the Middle Ages and aren't afraid of gritty realism, check out The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland. Her first book was a Medieval mystery, a noir sort of thing that I didn't really care for, but this had an interesting plot, dealing with Beguines, pagan ( Read more... )

I like V too, had forgotten about that one. I never watched the original Prisoner when it was originally on, though my husband did and like it. I thought this new one was trying too hard to be cutting edge and clever, and all it did was confuse me.

I'll watch 2012 on DVD at some point - our budget doesn't really allow for theater visits just now, but thanks for the recommendation.

I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't like Castle. It took a while to grow on me, but even I like it. That show seems to be the one new hit.

I liked last season okay, but this one has been terrific. Crime solving writers aren't exactly new - how many years was Murder She Wrote on? (And how were there any people left in that little town, considering they had 52 murders a year?) But Castle is clever and funny, not just the same recycled plot over and over.

You're welcome! I'd forgotten that about the taxis - totally unrealistic, especially in that little town. I grew up in a small town and I don't even think we had taxis.
