I was going to post some trivial update about Chuck and other TV nonsense. Then I got to work and saw the devastation in Haiti. My heart really goes out to the people there - that country has suffered so much. I can't imagine how they'll pull out of this, and I'm glad President Obama and other world leaders are already sending aid.

Just for the record, I enjoyed Chuck, but I can see it getting a bit samey. Wish they'd kill her off and get him another love interest or something.

Yes, she's totally dull, but it's made up for by Adam Baldwin. Mmmm.

Just when I think Mother Nature can't be more destructive and more people can't die in any one cataclysm, I am amazed to the point of speechlessness.

Normally, I am a member of the "take care of home first" brigade, but those people need as much help as they can get and then some. The devastation is just purly mindboggling. Nothing compares.

Too often foreign aid is used inappropriately - given to governments who hate us, or food aid that never gets distributed because warlords steal it, etc., but in this case, with estimated deaths now in the six figure range, something has to be done.

Earthquakes are way scarier than hurricanes to me - at least with a hurricane, you have some warning. It's very easy for us to forget how little control we really have over what happens to us. We're fairly insulated from nature that we have this feeling of safety but it's really an illusion. Nature kicks our butts every time.
