I'm sure the community knew that they would be asked for an operating levy after the new school was built, I just don't think they were going to pass it if it meant that Penfield and West Carlisle would still stay open. To me it would have made more sense if the Keystone school board asked for a much smaller levy (the levies in Lorain County that ended up passing were 3.0 mills or less) and close one of the elementary schools.
But like I said, the first parents to complain about the new setup are going to be the ones that voted against it or didn't vote at all.
Some things never change, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if some of the teachers voted it down... trust me.
The entire town of LaGrange seems to want to move forward, expand, build (or on the opposite end the farmers who hate all of that). But NO ONE has ever seemed to understand that part of that is to move forward, expand, and build on the futures of the young people. Parents of very young kids (those not in school yet) don't care because there kid isn't there yet, the first few grades of elementary school will say yes because they want their kid to be the next president, and after that they don't seem to give a rip one way or another. I think I remember Mr. King or someone saying that the last time a big levy like that passed was when the seniors that year all rallied together and went to vote yes for it. I think that says more than anything else. The seniors who would enjoy no benefit from the levy mad it pass because they knew that those behind them needed it.

I don't even know what to say about it.... other than i knew it wasn't going to pass and the general population of our town is RETARDED.
And you know the operating levy failed, so we have that new highschool and no money to turn on the lights....
