My mom has the same issue. In fact, she has to keep the doors open under her sink to keep them warm and removes the access panel to the rest of her plumbing as well. Not to mention we have to set the thermostat a bit higher on very cold days like today to keep the house warm enough to prevent frozen pipes.

Another option we've used is to run water every now and then, or leave a faucet dripping. It runs the water bill up a bit, but it's much better than dealing with the mess of a frozen or broken pipe.

Yeah, I'm learning about all this new stuff as a home owner.

It got worse though. Cindy called me at 11 to let me know that the hot water side froze in the kitchen as well. This means not only am I going to have to put a space heater under the kitchen sink, but I'm going to have to turn up the heater in bedroom #4 (our old office) in the basement since its right under the kitchen.

Before I do that I'm going to remove all the ceiling tiles because those are expensive! Good thing we moved those computers out of the room last month!

Did I mention that next month's electric bill is going to kill? :-P
