I am so often struck by how much James Duffy taught us all. The best thing, obviously is to talk with Angolans, Guineans or Mozambicans who lived with the Portuguese colonial arrogance, but, lacking that, Duffy is an excellent place to start.
Thanks for your comment, I found your book hugely useful and enlightening. I often feel that I should be using considerably more up-to-date sources, but as you say Duffy backs up so much of what others have subsequently found to be true about the colonial period.
