I can't imagine putting myself in my story, but I also can't imagine having gone to church without sharing the tale.

The title of this post sounds like you need to have this published in a glossy paperback with delightful watercolour illustrations!

Also, 'some people you're supposed to love are twats' made me laugh out loud.

I suppose it's nice that they were openly friendly and didn't try to exorcise you or put pressure on you to be one of them, but the idea of being all touchy-feely during Peace Be with You: The Huggening kind of makes my skin crawl as well.

Finally, I was once a Writing student too and I still don't understand what, exactly, the passive voice is, and why using it warrants a warning from your word processor.
