"Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside of them was superior to circumstance." - An exert from one of my essays

I am 45 years old and it has not taken me long to know two basic facts. 1) I don't know everything, and 2) I know that I don't know everything. So much for age equating to knowledge or understanding

I'm sitting here reading this and I'm thinking...Why does my brain hurt? Oh, maybe it's because I'd rather be reading about what you had for breakfast hehe

Being the age that I am, I've also had many experiences like this. Though I can't claim I've had as many as you, or any as serious as yours have been, I've experienced enough of it to form quite a few opinions on the subject. Generally, its complete bullshit. Though lets look at a few major causes of this attitude towards younger people

Now here's where it gets intresting. Everything that is now seen as dangerous, bad, and so forth, was done on a regular basis while they were growing up (such as drinking and driving, smoking, drugs, etc). Those things simply were not seen as the horrible things they are today. Why? No one spoke out against it. Eventually, enough like-minded people gatherd together to speak out against such acts. And then the media got involved. Because its (moronic) human nature to "go with the crowd", everyone's opinions started to shift in favor to the mass mentality that the media and society was feeding them

Ok, well...I'll agree with you on some points, but, you're treading dangerous ground. Yes, complete believe in the media is not a good thing, and a sheep mentality isn't either, but...just because things have been done for years until the media got involved or anything...that doesn't mean they are not bad. I say this because your post read to me like you were saying that something like drinking and driving used to be acceptable, and now that people are speaking out against it and 'following the crowd'...it's not anymore, and that's bullshit? Well, how about the fact that it causes alot of premature deaths? Sure, it's been done for years before it was made a big deal, but does that make it any less dangerous or shitty? I'd rather speak out against drunk driving and follow the crowd then lose a family member or friend to a drunk driver.
I'm not saying you don't have points...just maybe try to word them more carefully :)

Yeah, you're right. I was trying to point out the hypocricy of the older peoples' actions, not claiming that drunk driving is a good thing. I just coulden't think of a better example at the time, and didn't word it very well...
