Awesome guide, man. Good advice. My weakness while traveling has always been hotels, the rest of the time I walk everywhere and explore.

I never understood why people care what their hotel looks like. It’s the least interesting part of your trip. Try to be there as little as possible!

How do you find a shower, generally? Or are you just a smelly tourist? :)

Hostels have showers! When I sleep in public though, I tend to go to park bathrooms at night, lock the door and do a sink shower.

My tips would be the same, it would just be a much rougher trip. I haven’t traveled the US much as an adult. But soon, I hope!

Maybe it's just that I'm a cheapskate, but I do most of the things you've mentioned and I always have great holidays. Plus walking is always my favourite mode of transport. Public bus is quite fun too.

Fantastic tips - totally agree about traveling light, any more than one bag and you've made yourself extra hassle!
