1.  Apparently my uncle has Secret Hidden Wireless that went live last night - or at least I think it's him, as the connection has his name on it.  So, I'm back online on my own computer!
2.  I have family in Maryland, apparently!  What do you call your Grandmother's Nephew's Daughter?
3.  Going to Borders today!   I'll post a complete list of ( Read more... )

Well, if my geneological and linguistics abilities do not fail me, Your grandmother's nephew would be your parent's cousin (Uh, is this your maternal or paternal grandmother? I don't remember.), and would thus be your second cousin(?) making their child something like your 3rd cousin, or whatever. At least I think that's how it works. I have relatives on the same scale back in England, but it's been years since I needed to remember terminology for them.

Yeah, as far as my tired brain can tell, it'd be your second cousin. And if you get a child and she gets a child, those children would be third cousins....? What I'd like to know is what to call my cousin's children... I tend to call them "little cousins" (they are little!) but that term means "second cousin" in Finnish, and technically they're not my second cousins - they would be my child's second cousins, if I had one. That's at least how it goes in Finnish... I wonder if there are some old words for this, too... I mean we've got relation words no one anymore uses, for husband's sister and sister's husband and so on... why not for cousin's children too...

....and I'm sorry for being kinda incoherently babbly, but my brain's asleep.

Have fun at the bookstores! XD
