I feel spoiled in terms of the media that I have lately been consuming.  ^^  I read The Thirteenth Tale, which was not only amazing, but may have earned a #4 spot in terms of book ranking. . .well, sort of.  I'd place it just below my three favorites, which are all tied, though, really, the rankings are completely arbitrary and it all boils down to ( Read more... )

I was thoroughly impressed with The Thirteenth Tale when I read it. I don't know what I was expecting, but it was much better.

I was expecting a relatively simple tale of female/female respect/friendship, writing, and not knowing what the truth was. I mean, I GOT that, but in an amazing way I wasn't anticipating.

Gender-confused Giant Robo character = Youshi? I admit I wasn't sure either until she was all like "Hey Taiso, mah hubby" and I was like "oh ok."

It really does become amazing in the middle parts of the story.

And lucky you and your Baccano. ;_;

Yep. I don't know if she referred to Taiso as her husband earlier and I missed it or something, but I didn't realize she was a woman until Tetsugyu called her "big sister" in episode 4.

Either way . . .;_;

I still haven't finished it, as it just arrived, but I'm about to leave. But tonight I shall!

:P Not that lucky. I'm behind you - my new Baccano! is disc 3.

Questions:

How did you get your invite codes? And can I friend you on DW (read as: Uh what is yours?)

Hm. They just e-mailed me some codes shortly after I joined. If you don't have any, go to Invite Someone and see if you have any listed there?

Sure! ^_^ Same as here: ryanitenebrae.

I am impressed that you managed to write about the Thirteenth Tale without mentioning Jane Eyre once. That I noticed, anyway.

I have Baccano! coming too! Different part, though. ;p (But where is Clannad? You need to finish that. . . .)

Clannad is next if Gurren Lagann isn't - which it looks like it won't be, so I'm going to buy it after all. Darn, I was going to put that money toward pre-ordering Gakuen Alice(which won my heart officially yesterday.) Doesn't matter, I can probably do that next week anyway.

Yep. I figured telling people what book something mentions and parallels and such would tell them nothng about the actual work, so it was better ommitted.

(Though when I e-mailed someone to recommend, I included, "Also it references Jane Eyre 11 times! I counted! :D" or something to that effect.)

Your Baccano! is coming for a permanent stay, too, whereas mine is not. I'm probably going to wait and see if Funi does a set to actually buy it.

My Baccano! has arrived, though! Hmm. That, or Giant Robo first? Or finish watching Court Jester? Or go back to reading Octavian Nothing? Decisions, decisions.
