I have often gotten sick right at the start of vacation, so your explanation makes a great deal of sense.
W&P is great. Just take it slow and steady; the last several hundred pages go really fast, but in the beginning it can be hard to figure out who all the various Russian aristocrats are and why they are all speaking French. I assume you're reading the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation for maximum ease and enjoyment?

I did! I got a beat-up copy that a graduating senior used last year of P&V. I really liked them for Dostoyevsky, so I'm looking forward to using their translation. Once I settle more into the summer I'm going to figure out how many pages I need to read each morning and evening in order to finish in time.
