How utterly irritating. I think you should tell KUOW immediately about how difficult it was to donate your car. That's outrageous. Think of how many people just give up?
I'm planning on writing KUOW, but I'm waiting to see how things go tomorrow. I'll want to let them know if I've had to report the car as stolen, if it comes to that.
Is Ray an employee, or the owner of A to B Towing? If he's just an employee, I'd start going up the food chain.
If he is the owner, then yeah, if he doesn't produce the paperwork immediately, a nasty gram with a lawyer's signature on it might be in order.
I would NOT report the car stolen. While he didn't leave the paperwork he was supposed to, you DID give him permission to take it. So the car is NOT stolen at this point. Especially as he has the signed title.
DEFINITELY be informing KUOW of the problem with their tow company and with Brusque guy, 'cause neither of them are acceptable. They need all the positive public relations stuff they can get.
I'm not positive that Ray is the owner, but I suspect that he is. Both times I've called the number he gave me he's the one who answered. When I called him last night it was around 9pm, and when he left me voice mail in the morning it was around 9:30am. So while I'm not positive he's the owner I'd be surprised he hung around work, or answered his work cell, for at least 12 hours every day if he weren't
( ... )
Yup, KUOW is choosing to associate their business with them, and they need to know how POORLY it is reflecting. There are a number of local companies who do car donations, it isn't like KUOW doesn't have a choice in service providers. Sounds to me like they should go shopping.
It is POSSIBLE he's the "driver on call" this week (which would explain why he was answering his phone at odd times, but yeah, more likely, he's the guy in charge. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he gets you the damn paperwork ASAP!
Me too. I am, of course, feeling annoyed at myself as well for ignoring my instinct that just sticking the signed title in the car would lead to badness. Grrr.
