I got something in the mail like that that triggered my Scam Alert. It was from an address in Lake City. I've never bought a car in Lake City. And my car is also under six months old.

Oh, I get those things ALL the time. Little postcards, saying "WARRANTY ABOUT TO EXPIRE!!!"

Yeah. I got the 7 year warranty. Not so much. Being addressed to "Or current resident" doesn't help their case much, either.

I shred 'em.

I ignore mailers like that, they get dumped in the recycle bin, but a phone call is a bit different.

Doing some more google searching it looks like there's a place running this scam, or one very similar, out of Florida.

Yikes. Good of you to post this. Everyone should tell their older relatives; those people are the most vulnerable.

A telemarketer than hung up? Certainly a scam. Even if it had been some 3rd party warranty thing, they would have stuck on the phone for the hard sell till the bitter end.
