I don't know that you can mirror things, but the first thing should be straightforward enough, I should think. I'm assuming the select group is a usergroup; you'd simply create a forum where only that usergroup has read rights (and possibly reply rights).

I've not played around much with individual permissions myself, but moderators and administrators can FAIK post despite posting restrictions, so then I'd either make A Person a moderator of that forum, or go into user permissions and set them to be able to post in there. Unless they're already a global administrator, in which case I'd just say screw it and tell them they're free to post.

I think that should work.

The problem is in the fact that this is for guild applications. So say my guild forums have ranks as such :

Admin
Officer
Class Lead
Full Member
New Member

I would like our application forum readable only by say, New Member (making an app) and Class Lead/Officer. But I want New Member to only see THEIR post, whereas CL/Off can see all of them. I've seen it done before on a forum, but I can't remember what engine the thing was running. =/

Oh, I see. I read it as you wanted one person to write all posts and a number of people to read and reply but not write. Hmm...

It wouldn't surprise me if there's some kind of "read:Author" permission somewhere, but I couldn't tell you where. Might require a plugin. One idea might be to pose the question on SMF's official forums if you can't find the answer here.

After an hour of forums slapping, I found an addon for SMF that does exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you so much for the suggestions, I do appreciate it. :D
