I always assumed that the first time Dino saw Squalo after he left with XANXUS was when the Varia came to Japan. So he hasn't seen him in like years, and I was aiming for this to be set just before the Ring battles started taking place (Dino going to talk to Iemitsu to get the rings...) But, the coffee shop was the first place where they went that was outside of their school... So I figured Dino would be sentimental enough to celebrate the day they went out.
Sorry... that was a lot of rambling.
@Breaking waves: Smoking is badass. And people can look totally hot while doing it. But I'm almost like totally 100% against smoking... which is hilarious because I write people smoking all the time...
