Love interprets things in favor of the one loved. I had a long way to go to learn that, but the principle is clear enough in Paul's description: "Love is patient...never selfish, not quick to take offence. Love keeps no score of wrongs...There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope, and its endurance
