This was so tender. You wrote Marlene perfectly. And your writing is seriously like poetry. Especially the beginning you so eloquently explained how he felt, that I completely felt it with him. I love how much you capture his love for her, and also you captured his need to belong in her world, and his hurt for putting her in the situation where she might not win, and his un ending faith in her. This was just beautiful in so many ways. I love your writing.
