"A delay? You won't be here for thirty more minutes? Alright fine. No, no, it's alright Yesung. I'll be fine." Ryeowook huffed and hung up, rubbing his forehead as he slid his cellphone back into his pocket.

"Now what am I supposed to do?" Ryeowook muttered lowly to himself, looking around the library. He shrugged and helplessly began wandering the aisles. After all, it was a library, and if he was going to be stuck there for a little while longer, he might as well read.

-25-

"Oh - I'm so sorry...um...what’s your name?"

"I'm Han Geng. And it's completely fine."

Ryeowook offered a smile at the man that he had just bumped into. He glanced around for an empty place to set down his small collection of books but found none, and only accomplished letting a book from the top fall to the floor. He was about to kneel down and pick it up when the taller man in front of him bent down and retrieved it, standing back up to gently place the book back on to the pile.

Ryeowook glanced up and smiled genuinely.

"Thanks. Again, um, Han Geng. Sorry for running into you like that. I...honestly don't really know this place too well." In response, Han Geng sent him a curious raise of his eyebrows.

"Don't you live around here?"

"Actually, I don't. I'm only here to visit...uh...my girlfriend." Ryeowook wasn't exactly sure how Han Geng would react if he found out that he was gay, so he decided to play it safe. "She told me to wait at this library, but she's running a little late."

"Well, how long until she gets here?"

"Mm...25 more minutes, just about."

"Why don't I show you around town then? The town's fairly small and it's just right beside the library." Han Geng pointed out of the clear glass wall. "Unless you want to read those books of yours." Han Geng smiled playfully.

Ryeowook glanced down at his hands, as if just realizing that he was planning to read them. He chuckled and looked at Han Geng again.

"Walking around town sounds like fun."

-20-

"So what's your name? I've told you mine...it seems fair to know yours."

"Ah...Ryeowook. It's nice to meet you."

As Han Geng began pointing out different shops and cafes that they passed, Ryeowook took this time to get a better look at this man.

According to the slight accent that tinged his soft spoken words, it was obvious that he wasn't from around here. Currently, he was wearing a loose pair of jeans and a comfortable black hoodie. His ears carried tiny black spheres that hung on the lobes, matching his equally dark hair that hung down in front of his eyes.

"Ryeowook. Ryeowook? Hello?"

Ryeowook snapped out of his daze, blinking rapidly when Han Geng waved a hand in front of his face.

"Sorry, sorry. What did you say?"

Han Geng chuckled and gestured to a bakery, where people were seen through the glass windows chewing happily on little desserts and bread.

"Do you want something to eat? This bakery's fantastic."

Ryeowook smiled and nodded.

"That sounds great."

-15-

"Oh my God, you're right, this is great....but I can do better."

Han Geng widened his eyes, a forkful of vanilla cake halfway to his mouth.

"You bake?"

Ryeowook nodded, swallowing a bite of his strawberry cookie. "And cook too."

They were walking and chatting together through the park, the breeze blowing fallen orange leaves softly around their feet.

"Wow, that's amazing."

Ryeowook chuckled disbelievingly, nibbling on his cookie bashfully. "You think so?"

Han Geng nodded eagerly. "You're the first person I met to have such a cool job. I mean think about it. That's like...free food whenever you want. Free food!"
Ryeowook laughed, and couldn't help but start wondering when was the last time he had had this much fun with Yesung.

-10-

"Crap, Geng, how do you skip rocks like that?" Ryeowook grinned, watching his failed attempts drop into the lake with loud plunks. Han Geng glanced over at the shorter man and chuckled throatily.

"It's all in the wrist. Come on little baker, step up your game." Han Geng laughed, only laughing harder when Ryeowook hit him in the arm.

"I can't skip rocks. I don't believe that's a crime." Ryeowook said exaggeratedly.

"Come here." Han Geng motioned Ryeowook over. Ryeowook blinked cluelessly, not taking him seriously. Han Geng rolled his eyes, and before Ryeowook could protest, Han Geng came behind him, placing a rock in Ryeowook's hand.

He widened his eyes, frozen with shock when Han Geng carefully wrapped his fingers around Ryeowook's smaller hand, placing his other hand on Ryeowook's stiff shoulder. Han Geng's voice significantly lowered, seemingly oblivious to his flushed cheeks.

"Here. You just...lean back, crook your arm like this...and...throw at this angle."

Ryeowook jerked out of his grasp so quickly he missed how the stone left his hand and skipped six times on the surface of the rippled lake. He opened his mouth, untangling and re-tangling his fingers as he tried to calm his fast beating heart, all the while trying to come up with something to say.

"See, it's not that hard!" Han Geng chuckled, not noticing his strange behavior. Ryeowook managed a laugh and a nod, his eyes unfocused when he turned back around.

"Want to try again?"

"No!" Han Geng widened his eyes at how serious Ryeowook was. Ryeowook slowly shook his hands and chuckled, breathing in deeply, feeling a little calmer.

"Uh...I mean...no, it's okay. Let's...let's do something else."

Han Geng smiled, bending down to pick up his final rock in time to miss Ryeowook letting out a sigh of relief.

"That looks like a rabbit."

"What? No..." Ryeowook angled his body differently on the grass, a look of realization crossing his face.
"Ohhhh...now I see it."

Han Geng grinned and turned to the side, facing Ryeowook.

"You know. I'll be honest with you. It's been a while since I've had this much fun." Han Geng smiled softly to himself. "So thanks."

"...I should probably be honest with you too, Geng."

"Hm? And what is that?"

"Yesung's a guy. Not a girl."

Han Geng burst out laughing, Ryeowook's face contorting in an expression of mock hurt.

"Han Geng!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! It's just that it was so unexpected. Why didn't you tell me in the first place?"

"Not everybody's quite that accepting, Han Geng. So...thanks for that, Geng."

Ryeowook inhaled through his nose and closed his eyes, resting a little while Han Geng smiled earnestly and nodded, not caring whether or not Ryeowook saw it.

"It's no problem Ryeowook. Not a problem at all.”

“Hello? Oh…you’re at the library? Alright. Yeah. Okay. I’ll meet you there.”

Ryeowook ended the call and just stared at the phone resting in the palm of his hand, suddenly aware of the background noise. Han Geng shot a curious stare at him and averted his gaze to the phone.

“Yesung?” Han Geng softly inquired. Ryeowook replied with a silent nod as he slid the phone back in his pocket.

There was a tense silence radiating in the air, regardless of the gentle smile spreading across Han Geng’s face. He slowly stood up and stretched.

“Let’s get you back to the library. I don’t think we want to keep him waiting.”
Han Geng grabbed Ryeowook’s hand and helped him up, the latter simply smiling.
Ryeowook wondered briefly if it was wrong to want that.

Han Geng suddenly let go and glanced down at his watch, much to Ryeowook’s slight dismay.
“Oh, I almost forgot.” Han Geng smiled apologetically. “I have to go to work soon. I work at the café across the street.”

“Ah.” Ryeowook didn’t understand the disappointment that flooded through his chest, trying to cover it up with a light jest in his voice. “Not enough time to even walk me back to the library?”

Han Geng chuckled and shook his head.

“It was nice meeting you. Really. But I really should get going now. I can’t afford to lose this job.”

“Of course, of course…you should go.” Ryeowook smiled, watching Han Geng turn around, breaking into a run halfway to the café.

Ryeowook jumped slightly when his phone began vibrating against his skin. Quickly he picked up, wincing at the annoyed tone lacing Yesung’s voice.

“I know, I know. Sorry…I’ll be right there.”

Ryeowook hung up and began walking to the library, sighing just a bit wistfully.
When he arrived at the main entrance, he was greeted by a bright smile from Yesung.

“Sorry to keep you waiting Yesung…”

“I should be sorry, Wook. What were you doing for the past half an hour?”

Ryeowook gave a little half smile and chuckled.

“…I managed.”

“Then come on. We’ve got dinner reservations to go to!”

Ryeowook laughed and nodded. However, he couldn’t help but look briefly towards the café that Han Geng said he worked at and smile. A tug from Yesung brought him back to reality, and his thoughts were replaced by Yesung chattering about how much fun it would be.

Ryeowook just gave a half smile, wondering if it was going to be as fun and memorable as the time spent with Han Geng.

-Epilogue-
A sudden gust of wind greeted Ryeowook as he entered the café, looking around. He smiled to himself. It had been a while since he had been in this area.
When a familiar voice called his name, he turned around and broke into a smile, automatically walking towards the counter as the foreign man leaned his arms against the surface, his lips spread in a dazzling smile.

“Ryeowook-ah! What are you doing here? It’s been too long.”

“I agree. And I just happened to be around here again, and decided to stop by.”

At that moment, Ryeowook’s attention was caught by a slightly chubby-cheeked man seemingly around his age who was currently peeking out the door behind Han Geng. Han Geng noticed and turned around, chuckling softly, waving the man forward.

“This is Henry. He works with me here at the café.”

Henry gave Ryeowook a curious look before brightening in recognition, an equally bright smile on his face to prove it.

“Is this Ryeowook?”

Han Geng seemed to realize something, panic briefly flashing across his face before he started to smile nervously, pushing Henry back to the door.

“Oh so it is Ryeowook! You know, Ryeowook-ssi, Han Geng here talks so much about how you - mmph!” Han Geng slapped a hand over his mouth, chuckling softly over his shoulder to Ryeowook, who currently was just blinking in total shock, trying to process what was happening.

“Sorry. He…tends to get excited easily.”

Ryeowook laughed and nodded.

“Anyways…I was wondering when your break was.” He asked casually.

“Oh…not until a little while, so-”

“He means now.”

A Chinese man slid next to him, throwing an easy arm around his shoulders, smiling widely. Han Geng looked irritated and began to speak rapid Chinese under his breath. The man he was talking to simply laughed and replied back in the same quick language.

Ryeowook, feeling slightly awkward, scratched his neck lightly and looked around as they chattered excitedly.

Han Geng sighed and shut his eyes, gesturing his hand to the man next to him.

“This is Zhou Mi…who is apparently going to cover for my shift for now,” Han Geng shot Zhou Mi a look that Ryeowook knew only those two would understand. “Anyways, did you need anything?”

“Yeah…I was wondering if you wanted to come grab lunch…with me.”

Han Geng’s eyebrows shot up just when Zhou Mi grinned, elbowing him in the side. With his eyes trained on Ryeowook, he blindly waved Zhou Mi away, his hands underneath the counter to Ryeowook wouldn’t see. Catching the hint, Zhou Mi rolled his eyes and walked backwards into the kitchen, the door swinging behind him.

“Oh. yeah…okay…that….that sounds great.” Han Geng chuckled, his smile brightening even more. In an instant, it disappeared, replaced by an almost disappointed look before changing altogether to a neutral look, all in a split second. “But um…are you sure Yesung won’t mind?”

Ryeowook laughed and looked down, his fingers tangling and untangling with each other.

“That didn’t work out.” Ryeowook didn’t look up in time to see Han Geng’s expression morph into one of pleasant surprise. “But um…how long is your break?”

“About 30 minutes. You think we have enough time to catch up a little?”

Ryeowook had to bite his lip to keep from laughing as Han Geng rounded the counter, holding the entrance door open for Ryeowook.

“I think that’s plenty of time.”
