Ankoku no Sekai ch2

Jul 02, 2012 23:36

It was nearly 3AM when Yunho felt the first wave of drowsiness hit him and he felt his head tilting as he fought sleep. Seunghyun had told him he'd be there in a minute after going to the bathroom. He just had to stay awake until then. A loud clang jerked him out of his sleepy state and he peeked out the window nearest to him.
He frowned seeing a zombie mulling about down the road and seeming to have knocked into a trashcan. Deciding it was of no danger; he turned and let out a squeak as a knife pressed to his throat.

......

"Tao's not back."
"I know."
"He should have been back by now."
"You don't know that... he could be being very careful." Hangeng said and ZhouMi bit his lip in worry.
"Why do you even care anyways? He kissed you, so what? It's not like you have feel-- Do you have feelings for the little brat?!" Henry shrieked.
"You didn't have to bring him." ZhouMi mumbled and Henry's gaze softened as he leaned against ZhouMi’s side.
"I'm sorry."
"We need to get some rest. Come on, I have an idea." Hangeng said as he stood and put out the lamp. He lifted his bag on his shoulder and latched onto the nearest tree, climbing up it quickly until he was at a high enough distance to not be caught, yet safe if he were to fall. Henry gaped up at him and blinked.
"You're kidding." He said.
"These trees are very large and sturdy. There's plenty of room to sleep. Unless you want to chance the undead coming along and munching on you for a midnight snack if they wander by." He said with a shrug and this had ZhouMi and Henry scrambling up the same tree.

Once settled, ZhouMi glanced at Henry who was struggling to find a comfortable position on the large branch and he offered his arms, hugging him close as he drifted to sleep, exhausted.
Once he was certain the other two were asleep, Hangeng jumped down from the tree he was in and set off for the city. He had to find a safer place.

.............

"You shouldn't let your guard down like that Yunnie." Jaejoong purred as he withdrew the knife from its dangerous position.
"Don't call me that, you're my ex, remember?" Yunho asked and Jaejoong laughed.
"I wouldn't dream of coming onto you when one, you dumped me for that stick. Two, you think I'd pick you for my last possible fuck on earth. No thanks." Jaejoong remarked, leaving the room and in turn leaving Yunho's pride in shreds.
Moments later, Yunho sighed in relief as Seunghyun walked through the door. Yunho scrambled up and collapsed on the nearest bed, sleep claiming him almost instantly.

……………

Tao panted slightly as he stopped running upon reaching the outskirts of town, it was dark and he was unable to hide his fear as he walked through the eerie silent streets towards a couple of houses. He had come across a couple of zombies between the woods and his current position but had managed to run past them quietly before they saw him.
He cautiously walked towards one of the houses, the windows were boarded up but the door was still accessible, as opposed to the other which looked like it had been overrun with the undead. He heard quiet groans in the distance, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, pushing himself he climbed the steps up to the front door of the house and cautiously turned the handle sighing in relief when it opened.

The main room of the house was a mess, the sofa was overturned near the door looking like a failed attempt at a barricade and the glass table was shattered, leaving glass shards all over the floor. Tao walked cautiously across the glass and turned on the light before closing the door slightly behind him, just in case he had to leave in a hurry.
“Im wearing the wrong shoes for this” he mumbled to himself as he made his way further into the house and away from the glass.
It was silent as he walked; accept for the sound of his own footsteps which sounded dangerously loud in his own ears. He started upstairs in search of a bedroom, if he was going to find suitable items to sleep on the bedrooms would be the best place to look.

The first room he checked was a definite no, the bed was covered with blood and he was pretty sure he saw a foot on the floor poking out from the other side of the bed, matched with a small swarm of flies hovering above. He shuddered as the image sank into his head and he tried his best not to vomit.
“It’s just a foot… just a foot” he mumbled in an attempt to calm himself, and it worked. The second bedroom was clean compared to the first; he pulled the duvet off the double bed and threw it over his shoulder as he grabbed a blanket that was thrown on a chair in the corner of the room, before running downstairs.
Once downstairs he threw the duvet on the floor and walked into the kitchen to look for something to eat, he sighed at the buzz of the light when he opened the refrigerator door.
“Were they always that loud?” he asked himself as he searched the shelves, only to find nothing safe to eat. “Typical” he scoffed before closing the door and turning around and leaving the kitchen.

Just as he was about to pick up the duvet there was a sound behind him, broken glass underfoot, but he wasn’t standing on any. He turned his head slowly to the side upon hearing a deep groan behind him his body was rigid and heavy. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted the mangled corpse of a woman standing in the doorway, her clothes were torn and bloody, much like her skin. Her upper lip and part of her left cheek had been torn away revealing yellow rotting teeth. Managing to turn around long enough to face her Tao stepped backwards ready to run but stumbled when the blanket got caught around his foot, he fell to the floor, whimpering when his head connected with the corner of the stair case. He stared into the cold dead eyes of the woman as he brought his hand to the back of his head, wincing when he felt his hair was now wet with blood.  Another groan was heard from the woman before she lunged forward, snarling as she closed in and collapsed on top of the young boy.
He screamed.

…………..

Kyuhyun’s head shot up as his eyes snapped to the direction of the scream, he wiped the tears from his cheeks with the sleeves of his hoodie before pulling his handgun from its holster and cautiously walking towards the noise.
“Kyuhyun what are you doing?” Leeteuk asked as he started to follow Kyuhyun down a dark alley towards the sound of the scream, pulling Kangin along with him.
“There’s someone alive around here and im not going to ignore them, if I can I’ll save them” he mumbled in a low voice as he approached a small house with light shining through the boarded up windows.
“Kyuhyun what I said back there…” Kangin started before Kyuhyun waved his hand to silence him.
“I don’t wanna hear it” He hissed before his ears pricked to the sound of struggling mixed with groans from inside. Without thinking he made sure the safety was off his pistol and ran up the steps and inside the house.

On the floor was a young looking boy struggling with a woman a lot older and deader than the boy there was blood underneath his head but other than that he looked unharmed.
“Hey!” Kyuhyun shouted, getting the attention of the woman, who turned and growled at Kyuhyun before shuffling off the younger boy and standing up. “This is for my family” he mumbled under his breath before squeezing the trigger and shooting the woman through the head as she stepped forward towards him. Kyuhyun stepped to the side as she fell too her knees and then to the floor dead. Leeteuk and Kangin were standing at the door, once clear Leeteuk released Kangin’s hand, leaving him at the door as he ran to the boy’s side.
“Its okay we won’t hurt you” he smiled as the boy crawled backwards until his back hit the wall. “Can you tell me your name?” he asked and the boy nodded.
“My… name’s Tao”

………….

"Jaejoong-ah~.... Jaejoong-ah~ Why didn't you wait on us? We saw you down the road with them and we called for you but you kept walking. We miss you baby."
Jaejoong sat up from his fitful sleep and glared at nothing in particular.
"What's wrong?" Yunho asked from the other side of the bed, having been woken by Jaejoong's movement. Jiyong was still sound asleep on the other side of the room.

"I'll tell you what's wrong." Jaejoong said with his arms crossed. "You drug me out of my room when this all started and couldn't wait ten minutes for Yuchun and Junsu to meet me. I promised them." He said, a hint of sadness to his voice before his eyes hardened once more. As he went to speak again, Seunghyun came into the room. "
Get ready to go. Now's the best time, right before dawn." He said, shaking Jiyong awake. "Let's go."

................

As dawn began to break, ZhouMi felt something painful near his shoulder. He opened his eyes and looked, only to shriek and move his arm, causing the bird that had been pecking at his jacket to squawk and fly off. Henry groaned from the noise and buried his face in ZhouMi’s chest. "Stop shouting. It's going to draw attention." He mumbled.

"We should probably get going....... But Tao's not back." ZhouMi pouted causing Henry to sit up.
"Hey Ha--- HE'S GONE!! Where'd Hangeng go?!" Henry shrieked, standing shakily on the tree limb. ZhouMi held his hips to steady him. "He left us?" He whispered, voice shaking. Henry sighed and made his way down from the tree with ZhouMi behind him.
"Don't worry Mimi; I won't leave you alone... We can stay here for now. It seems safe for now." He reasoned and ZhouMi dug in his bag for something to eat.
"Fine."

The next ten minutes ticked by with no talking and Henry pouted.
"Do you not like me? I mean... you've always been able to smile in the worst situations and now you look on the verge of tears." He whispered and ZhouMi looked at him, forcing a small smile on his face.
"Hangeng ditched us Henry..... And Tao could be dead. Someone finally opened up that they truly like me and he could be gone forever."
“I like you” Henry mumbled under his breath and ZhouMi looked up.
“What?” he asked and Henry shrugged.
“Nothing… Im sure he’s fine, Hangeng too. We’ll all be fine” he smiled sadly before sipping on a bottle of water he had fished out of his bag.

………..

“What are you doing out here on your own?” Leeteuk asked as he cleaned up the gash in the back of Tao’s head as the boy sat on the kitchen counter. He said nothing.
“We’re not going to hurt you, I promise. You’ve already told me your name” he smiled “That’s a good sign right?” Tao bit his lip as his eyes scanned over to Kyuhyun, who was sat on the front porch checking over his pistol has he kept watch.
“Is he going to shoot me?” Tao asked in a low voice, quiet enough for only Leeteuk to hear.
“No, he saved your life. I can guarantee he won’t hurt you” Leeteuk smiled as Kyuhyun looked up and in their direction, shaking his head slightly as if he heard their conversation.
“There isn’t anything else upstairs. I suggest we stay here until morning at least.” Kangin said quietly as he made his way down the stairs and to the kitchen. “I think we will be safer here than out there tonight”
“My friends” Tao whined, flinching as Leeteuk pressed a bandage to the wound. “They will wonder where I am… or think im dead…”

“If we carry on tonight you will be dead…” Kyuhyun mumbled as he entered the house, closing and locking the door behind him “Its all clear out there, as long as we stay quiet and turn off the lights we should be fine. Im going to bed”
“Wait” Kangin scoffed as Kyuhyun grabbed the blanket off the floor and started up the stairs. “There is only one bed up there suitable for sleeping in... where are the rest of us supposed to sleep?”
Kyuhyun stopped and sighed, staring blankly at Kangin before he rolled his eyes and carried on upstairs.
“I don’t know and I don’t care” he growled before he walked into the bedroom, closing the door behind him.

Tao shot Leeteuk a worried look as he finished bandaging the young boys head before Leeteuk gave him a reassuring smile, but it did little to calm him.
“Are we safe…” he mumbled as he looked up the stairs “he seems a little….”
“Cocky, rude, snarky, childish” Kangin mumbled as he collapsed down onto the sofa.
“Dangerous…” Tao sighed as he hopped off the kitchen counter.
“Tao don’t worry, were safe with him, he maybe a little rude but I trust him. Ignore Kangin… the two of them don’t exactly get along” Leeteuk smiled as he washed his hands, drying them on his jacket.
“You know my name… but I don’t know who you are” Tao frowned as he picked up the duvet and wrapped it around his shoulders as he sat on the bottom step of the staircase.
“My name is Leeteuk” he smiled as he motioned to Kangin “This is Kangin, and the boy upstairs is Kyuhyun. We haven’t known him long either. You two should get some rest, im going to go and talk to Kyuhyun”

............

As the sun rose over the city, Jaejoong began to realize some things. One, the zombies were a lot more scarce during the day and on the outskirts of town. Two, Survivors were few and far between. They hadn't seen anyone since running into that small group the day before. And three, he owed Yunho his life.
"Hey guys...." Jiyong said after a few more minutes of silence. "Did that kid really push his friend off the roof? I'm not the only one that saw that right?"
Silence passed before Jaejoong spoke.
"Primal instinct forces us to act without thinking and remember the number one rule. Survival of the fittest. Any one of us would have done the same thing in his situation most likely." He said making Jiyong and Seunghyun pause and share a look.
~He's dangerous.~ They thought.

................

Sungmin continued to run as he was pulled behind Ryeowook, they'd been running for what felt like hours and finally, he snapped.
"Ryeowook STOP!"
He jerked himself to a stop and screamed when Ryeowook didn't react in time, yanking his arm forwards as a popping noise sounded as Sungmin's arm dislocated from its socket. He fell to his knees holding his right arm with his left, blood dribbling down his chin where he was biting his lip to keep from making more noise.
Ryeowook dropped to his knees beside him looking like he wanted to faint at any moment.
"Sungmin I'm so sorry! Why did you want to stop so badly? We're almost to the school. Um....." He panicked, getting out a towel and stuffing it in Sungmin's mouth before making him sit. He took his arm gently and bent it at a 90 degree angle L shape before twisting his arm towards his stomach, then out, then back in. Tears streamed down Sungmin's face as he fixed the injury. Moments later Ryeowook felt the joint reset and Sungmin cried in relief, spitting out the bloodied towel.
"I need to rest, let me rest Wookie. We can try to find others tomorrow. I need time......."

..................

Henry sighed for the umpteenth time as ZhouMi paced the area.
"Mi......
"Mii........"
"ZhouMi!"
"..............."
"If you do NOT stop pacing I am going to seriously hurt you!"
ZhouMi paused and looked at Henry in slight fear.
"Tao isn't coming back okay?! We've been waiting for twelve hours. If he was alive he'd have come back by now. I hate to say it but we need to move on." Henry said and ZhouMi turned away from Henry.
"He's alive..... We just have to wait for him."
"ZhouMi......"
"NO! This isn't some movie. He could still be...." Henry sighed and hugged ZhouMi from behind.
"Exactly. This is no movie...... we can't be so optimistic."

…………….

Tao awoke from his comfortable sleep curled up within the duvet on the floor; he stretched to rid himself of the stiffness in his limbs before standing up, pulling the duvet with him. Kangin was lead on the small sofa, a leg and an arm hanging off one side as gentle snores filled the room.  It was light outside, sunlight shining through the gaps in the boards of the window brightened up the room as Tao made his way upstairs to find the others.
He opened the bedroom door quietly; a smile crept onto his face when he saw Leeteuk asleep on the bed with Kyuhyun pulled protectively to his chest and the blanket draped over them.
“Guys…” he whispered as he crept through the door “Guys its morning…” he whispered again before Leeteuk hummed and nodded his head.
“Be down soon Tao” he whispered, refusing to open his eyes just yet. Tao nodded silently and left the room, pouting slightly as he made his way downstairs where Kangin was just waking up.

“Morning kiddo, Where’s Leeteuk?” he asked as he stretched and Tao pointed to the stairs.
“Up there, I think he’s been there all night, I didn’t hear him come down and they look pretty cosy”
“Cosy?” Kangin asked, eye brows furring together and an angry tone evident in his voice “what do you mean cosy?”
“Leeteuk…” Tao hesitated before continuing “they were sharing the bed that’s all” he smiled before ducking round Kangin to sit on the sofa, avoiding his gaze at all costs.

Upstairs Leeteuk lay in bed waiting for Kyuhyun to wake up; the younger boy was exhausted Leeteuk could tell, he didn’t want to disturb him so he waited, brushing stray strands of hair out of Kyuhyun’s face and gently wiping the slightly damp tear tracks from his cheeks. He hadn’t expected their conversation to end like it did, he sighed as it played back in his head.

“Can we talk?” Leeteuk asked as he knocked on the bedroom door just minutes after Kyuhyun had gone upstairs. Kyuhyun was silent.”It’s just me… Kangin and Tao are downstairs”
“Fine whatever” Kyuhyun mumbled as he sat on the bed, frowning at the lumpiness of the mattress.
“Why are you being like this?” Leeteuk asked as he shut the door behind him “I understand why you don’t like Kangin; he can be a little full on. But I’ve done nothing to hurt or offend you since we met. Don’t talk to me like im nothing, I get that enough off him”
Kyuhyun sighed as he threw his bag onto the floor and kicked off his shoes.
“Im sorry. I know you’re just trying to help”
“I would if you would let me, we may have only known each other for two days but we need to stick together.”
“I was fine until he opened his big mouth and said all of this was a dream” Kyuhyun frowned as he pulled his legs to his chest. Leeteuk’s heart thumped against his chest at the look in the younger boys eyes.
“Your parents…” Leeteuk started as he moved closer to the bed “What did you mean?”
“Don’t, please, I don’t wanna talk about it”
“I understand” he nodded as he sat on the bed, his back towards Kyuhyun. He sighed.
“I watched my father die and then come back and attack my mother…I ran to Kangin’s house, the only place I knew to go” he paused, bringing his hand up to run his fingers through his medium length brown hair before scratching his neck.”Im a coward”
“You’re not…” Kyuhyun mumbled quietly “I… My parents let a survivor into the house one night.” He bit his lip as he wrapped his arms tightly around his knees. Leeteuk turned around, sitting next to Kyuhyun and wrapping an arm around his shoulder gently.

“She told us she wasn’t infected, she didn’t show any symptoms so we let her stay, our house was safe and so were we…around 2am I heard shouting, it sounded like it was outside so I ignored it at first and tried to get back to sleep but I couldn’t, so I got up and got dressed” he paused before continuing.
“Everything went quiet, but then I heard screaming downstairs. I ran down and my sister was on the floor in a pool of blood… my mother was cradling her body and my father was screaming something about the woman we let in going crazy… I froze and blanked out everything he said, I didn’t know what to do. My sister was my best friend and she was just… gone” Kyuhyun stopped and took a deep breath, blinking and sending tears tumbling down his cheeks as Leeteuk tightened the hold around the younger boy’s shoulders.

“She woke up not too long later but it wasn’t her… She killed my mother and I ran. I ran to my parents bedroom and locked myself in. I sat crying on their bed for around an hour and then the banging started. Growls and empty groans at the bedroom door, they were after me… I remembered about my father’s guns in the trunk under the bed, so I found the key, unlocked it and armed myself. I was terrified and on my own I didn’t know what else to do. When the door broke down I didn’t think, I just fired the shotgun in my hand. My father was first, then my mother, my sister and finally the bitch that killed them. I packed all the guns, weapons and what food I could and ran. I killed my family… im all alone and there’s nothing I can do about it” he said with a shaky breath before finally breaking down in Leeteuk’s arms.

Leeteuk pulled Kyuhyun tightly to his chest, rubbing the younger boy’s back gently as he slept and clung to the fabric of Leeteuk’s jumper.
“You’re not alone Kyu” he whispered as he kissed Kyuhyun softly on the forehead. “You’re not alone because im not going anywhere”

…………

The groan of an undead made Jaejoong shriek as it tried to grab at him, from the shadows of a building. It was alone but made Jaejoong's skin crawl. Yunho went to ask if he was alright but the brunette was already beating the creature's head in with a steel pipe he'd found. Jiyong and Seunghyun stared at him as he stood up and dusted himself off before taking a deep breath and walking past the others.
"If we're going to get to another town before dark we have to hurry." He said and Yunho blinked, taking a step away from the corpse.

...............

"I have to pee....."
"........."
"Zhoumiiii....... I don't want to go by myself!"
"We can't move from here."
"Mimi! Aish fine I'll piss here." Henry said standing up and turning his back to ZhouMi so he could pee. ZhouMi chewed his lip in worry as his mind drifted back to Tao and he sighed. "Maybe he didn't survive......."
Tears clouded his vision and he faintly heard Henry zip his pants before soft hands were touching his face. "
ZhouMi...... don't cry. If you cry, I'll lose my last strength. I don't like to see you sad." He said and ZhouMi opened his mouth to speak only to have soft lips press against his own.

................

Ryeowook grunted as he walked along the road they were on. He shifted Sungmin on his back and kept his eyes up ahead.
"That's the intersection. Maybe I can glance people..... As long as they can be of use..... But then......" He muttered, flashes of Yesung appearing in his head. He tightened his grip on Sungmin's legs.
"I had to do it." He whispered, gasping as he saw a person, then two, then four come into view. He took in a breath and shouted quickly that he was there, that they needed help.

………..

“Yah! What the hell!” Kangin growled as he stormed into the bedroom after neither of the two came downstairs. “Wake up!” he shouted, pulling a pillow out from under Leeteuk’s head, startling him.
“Kangin… What are you doing?” Leeteuk yawned before he felt Kyuhyun nuzzle his face against his chest, tickling him lightly and making him smile.
“I could ask you the same thing” Kangin glared at the younger boy and back at Leeteuk, whose face fell upon seeing what Kangin was implying.
“Wait you don’t think….. Me and Kyuhyun… Kangin are you serious?”
“Look at you both, I came in to find you asleep with him against your chest, me or Tao didn’t see either of you all night, anyone can see he’s been crushing on you since we met him”
“Kangin your being ridicules, just listen to yourself”
“Am I? Really just tell me…..”
“Shut the hell up Kangin, You don’t know shit” Kyuhyun mumbled as he awoke and rolled over. His eyes were red; his hair stuck up all over the place as he sat up and rubbed his eyes.
“What are you gunna do if something did happen last night hmm?” he smirked before Leeteuk slapped him lightly on the back of the head.
“Yah you’re not helping”
“Aish fine! Nothing happened” he laughed “I didn’t touch your precious boyfriend… well technically I did but, not in the way you’re thinking”

“Um guys….” Tao mumbled as he poked his head through the bedroom door “Can we go and find my friends please?” he asked with sad eyes  and Kangin sighed before shooting a glare in Kyuhyun’s direction and storming off downstairs.
“Im sorry Tao, I fell back asleep” Leeteuk laughed slightly as he stood up and ran his fingers through his hair. Tao shrugged.
“Its okay… what was Kangin shouting at?” he asked hesitantly and Kyuhyun grinned.
“He’s jealous because he thinks me and Leeteuk had sex last night, and its fun to tease him”
“Okay… I didn’t need to hear that, im sorry I asked” Tao shuddered and Kyuhyun laughed.
“You asked, I simply answered.”
“Tao wait for us downstairs okay? I need to talk to Kyuhyun before we leave” Leeteuk smiled and Tao nodded before leaving the room.

“Kyu about last night… It wasn’t your fault, what happened to your family…”
“I know, can we just not… id rather not talk about it anymore” Kyuhyun sighed as he pulled his bag onto his back, tightening the straps on his shoulders before slipping his pistol into its holster.
“Sure” Leeteuk smiled “But Kyu, if you need to talk, im here”
“Leeteuk… You shouldn’t let Kangin talk to you like that, you don’t deserve it” Kyuhyun mumbled as he stood in front of the older boy, his eyes fixed on the floor.  Leeteuk smiled and lifted Kyuhyun’s head up with his finger, running his thumb across the younger boy’s jaw line.
“You’re blushing” he smiled and Kyuhyun bit his lip. “What Kangin said… is it true?”
Kyuhyun nodded slightly as he tried to avoid eye contact with Leeteuk but the older boy’s next move made his knees go weak.

Leeteuk leaned forward, tilting his head slightly before capturing Kyuhyun’s lips with his own in a soft and warm kiss. He chuckled slightly at the whimper that left Kyuhyun’s mouth when they pulled away before winking and heading towards the door.
“Our little secret” he smiled at the younger boy before heading downstairs after the others.

…………….

“Hey guys did you hear that?” Jiyong asked as his ears pricked to the sound of something other than the distant groans. “Listen” he said, shushing the group as he heard the sound again.
“Over here!” a small voice called and Yunho laughed.
“I don’t believe it, there’s someone alive over there” he sighed in relief as a small male came into view, carrying an older looking male on his back.
Seunghyun hurried over and helped the older male off his back just in time before the smaller male collapsed.
“Thank you” he panted before his eyes fell closed from exhaustion.
Jaejoong scoffed as he witnessed what was happening.
"Great more people to get us killed." He hissed and Yunho rounded on him.
"Shut up you ignorant prick. This is people's lives’ you're talking about so unless you want to carry YOUR friend all over creation then you can get that stick out of your ass and carry my bag." He growled, moving his bag to his front and leaning down to pick up Ryeowook on his back.
"Seunghyun can you get the other one?" He asked as he began to walk again. Jiyong grinned and followed after him.
"About time."

..........

Tao watched with calculating eyes as the other three men gathered things of any value to them and he turned his attention to his phone. It was the only thing he had on him since he'd left his bag with ZhouMi.
"Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me....... happy birthday... to Zitao, happy birthday.... to me. I miss ZhouMi..." He whispered, dropping his head to rest on his knees as he texted ZhouMi’s number only to receive numerous ‘message failed to send’ alerts.
"There's no signal here......." He muttered, wincing as he stood on his feet. "Definitely wore the wrong shoes."

“Tao, are you alright?” Leeteuk asked upon hearing the young boy hiss in pain. Tao nodded with a smile before heading to the window, peaking out through a gap in the boards.
“I think we have everything that’s worth taking…” Kyuhyun mumbled as he glanced at Leeteuk, a small smile crossing his face when Leeteuk stuck his tongue out ever so slightly before turning away and pulling a his bag onto his back.
“Tao how far are your friends?” Kangin asked coldly as he leaned against the wall, Tao bit his lip as he looked out of the window.
“A couple of miles up the road maybe… they were in a clearing in the woods when I left”
“When you left? Great, for all we know they could have left! What happens when we get there and they aren’t?” he growled and Kyuhyun’s smile fell as he saw the terrified look on Tao’s face. His hand found its way to the pistol holstered on his leg and he gripped the handle tightly.
“Kangin don’t” Leeteuk sighed “just stop with the attitude, please, it’s getting tiring”
Kangin mumbled something under his breath, not quite loud enough for Kyuhyun or Tao to hear but Leeteuk, by the look on his face, heard it perfectly clear.

Kyuhyun spun round, pulling the gun from its holster and pressing it to Kangin’s temple as he pinned the older male to the wall.
“I don’t care how much older you are than me, I don’t care how much bigger you are than me and to be honest I don’t care what you do to me. But leave. Them. Alone” he growled as he pressed the gun harder to the side of Kangin’s head. Kangin stared Kyuhyun in the eyes and swallowed the lump in his throat.
“Go ahead” he whispered “Shoot me, we all know that’s the kind of person you are”
Kyuhyun clenched his teeth as his thumb slipped from the handle of the pistol to the safety button. The button he was about to press when Leeteuk grabbed his arm, pulling him away from Kangin with little struggle from Kyuhyun.
“We need to go” Leeteuk said calmly as he held onto Kyuhyun for a moment from behind, his warm embrace seemingly calming the younger boy down. Kangin rolled his eyes when he saw Kyuhyun relax in Leeteuk’s arms before he kicked off the wall and headed to the door, opening it and squinting when sunlight filled the room.

The four of them walked for what felt like hours, Tao leading in front ever so slightly; enough for him to lead but not enough that he would be in danger if they were attacked. He was limping slightly but he pushed on, ZhouMi was all he could think about as they made their way up the street past the burnt out cars and corpses of the dead. Kyuhyun kept his pistol firmly in his hand as they walked, he was tense and it showed.
“Kyu… are you alright?” Leeteuk asked from just behind the younger boy, Kyuhyun nodded.
“Im fine, I just don’t like being out in the open for too long… it attracts things” he whispered.
Leeteuk smiled reassuringly as they walked, looking back every now and then to check Kangin hadn’t walked off or worse, he was fed up, fed up of Kangin’s attitude, fed up of his temper and fed up of getting more attention and affection from someone he had known for a little over two days than he had from his boyfriend, but he shook the thoughts from his head as they approached an intersection.
Just on the other side was a large clearing in the woods; they followed Kyuhyun’s lead, ducking in and out of the cover of vehicles to avoid the eyes of the zombies that stalked the road.
They made it to the clearing and Tao sighed as he let go of Leeteuk’s hand, walking ahead and picking up speed when he heard ZhouMi’s voice in the distance.

…………..

“Talk to me! You can’t ignore me forever” Henry whined as he sat with his back against a tree “Tao isn’t coming back…”
ZhouMi was sat on the floor with his head in his knees, ever since Henry had kissed him he had been silent, something Henry wasn’t used to.
“ZhouMi please just talked to me.”
“You kissed me…” ZhouMi mumbled, raising his head slightly. “You know how worried I am about Tao, why would you do that!”
“What he’s the only person allowed to kiss you now?”Henry sulked before both of their ears pricked to the sound of leaves and sticks crunching underfoot.

…………..

“Tao are you sure were in the right place?” Leeteuk said calmly, not wanting to worry the younger boy.
“I heard him, they’re here, they have to be” he whined as tears pricked in the corners of his eyes.

“Tao?” a familiar voice called from behind a large tree. Tao looked up, his face lighting up when he saw ZhouMi and Henry step into the open.
“Gege” He smiled, ignoring the pain in his feet in favour of running towards ZhouMi and into his waiting arms.
