I totally understand about the break sounding less like a break thing. I was a spoilt brat and didn't have to work last year, but alas, I was lucky enough to get a job this summer so I'm not dirt poor. I'm glad you're taking the teaching opportunity! It's something you're good at, and the pay sounds fantastic!
Looks like (from what I read) you have the days for Miasma-con off! I might be looking at dates wrong, but that's what it sounds like. I dunno if you've checked the DA page in a while, but you should totally come! It's the only "con" I'll be at this year, and we hardly ever see each other. >:
