i couldn't help but notice that you italicized the word "black" in quoting your cousin. tell me, did she lean in slightly and whisper the word with extra emphasis, her mouth over-exaggerating the shapes needed to speak such a word? i have family members that do that with "black" and "gay," and it drives me crazy. *just asking*
