Oh, Sweet, Sweet Cable...

Not a whole lot of work getting done tonight, but it has been a delightful night of TV watching. The Mythbusters did the "Mentos in a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke" myth tonight. For those who've managed to miss this little bit of Mr. Wizard-esque home chemistry, you drop a handful of Mentos into a 2 liter bottle of soda (Diet Coke is the best ( Read more... )

Whoa, I didn't realize you'd never actually seen it. Your enthusiastic recommendation led me to believe you spoke from personal experience. I am glad you did not steer us wrong, but I'm sad we didn't get the chance to snark on it all together.

In that vein, you should check out my favorite of the user comments on imdb. I think it's the first one on that page, the one entitled "Greatest movie of all time." This is one of the finest cinematic commentaries ever produced. (It's full of spoilers so you might want to wait until after you've watched the movie. Unless reading it was what led you to want to watch it in the first place...)

Zeke said he thought there was an Orca II, but sadly, this does not actually seem to be the case.

That might be the finest bit of writing ever posted semi-anonymously on the internet. I'm now ready to believe that a killer whale bent on revenge is just like Batman commenting on Vietnam. Also, that Bo Derek has only three quarters of the legs she was born with.

I haven't gotten my cable hooked back up after my move, so I am left to local news and Elimidate (in addition to Conan, of course). I had to watch House on rabbit ears tonight.

I wouldn't worry about it. The lawsuits that force the Discovery Channel to never show that episode again after the first dozen kids blow their eardrums out with exploding Pringles cans and burn their houses down with sugar-based napalm probably won't be filed for a few weeks yet.

Hey, I posted a comment then somehow deleted it by accident. I didn't even know I could delete comments from someone else's blog.

Anyway, the gist of my remarks was as follows: Stop hating on Summer Catch! It is without doubt the finest Marc Blucas/Christian Kane/Brittany Murphy/Brian Dennehy/Wilmer Valderrama film ever made! Seriously, if you can think of a better one let me know, because I'll rent it tomorrow.

Yeah, I got the email notification and then couldn't quite figure out why it wasn't showing up. Here's the text:Dude, quit hating on Summer Catch. That has to be the finest Marc Blucas/Christian Kane/Wilmer Valderrama/Brian Dempsey/Brittany Murphy film ever made. In the spirit of that fine Orca review, it really made me believe that Marc Blucas was into fat chicks, and that Brittany Murphy is a big slut.
As for a movie rental, it doesn't have those fine actors, but I can recommend Skyscraper. It's got Anna Nicole Smith as a helicopter pilot who gets into a Die Hard sorta situation, or at least what Die Hard woulda been if Bruce Willis had had sex with Alan Rickman at some point during the movie.
