I also own all 4 cds, and really enjoy them. It is sad, but I suppose, inevitable, that they too will become unplayable in 2 decades. . .

yes, all four discs are essential. i keep trying to narrow it down and find my one favorite loop, but more and more i realize how each one is just so indispensable.

And it's interesting how much of the power(besides Basinski's original recordings) of the Disintegration Loops comes not from any human hand at all, rather the random and gradual destruction of the magnetic surface of the tape. Perhaps no thinking being could have made it as perfect as it is. Maybe that's the way it should be.

BTW, the 3 new songs are great! I think 'Dawn' is my initial favorite of them, I really like the revolving layers in it. Really gorgeous stuff.

yeah, exactly! it was a process completely unrelated to how humans usually create music, and it simply succumbed to nature's laws to create what it has. truly, nothing else like it.

thanks, glad you like my new songs. seems like the best reation has been to 'dawn' so far.
