Summary : Continuation of '
At least, for the moment' - Set on KAT-TUN's meeting on the next day. Nothing much - just some AkaKameKoki.
“…and Tego sang Happy Birthday; you know, that NEWS’ one…”
Jin pulled the door open just in time to catch Kame’s telling the other members about his birthday surprise at the set. All heads turned to him, and he smiled slightly.
“Morning. I’m not late, right?”
Koki looked at the time and shook his head. “Nope, but you missed the first half of Kazuya’s story.”
Jin glanced at the youngest member and raised his eyebrow on the calling ‘Kazuya’ but Kame skillfully averted his gaze. People rarely called him ‘Kazuya’; it was always ‘Kame’ or ‘Kamenashi’. He didn’t mind Koki calling him ‘Kazuya’, but somehow he got some vibe telling him his best friend wasn’t fond of the idea.
The A of KAT-TUN took off his sunglasses and plopped his bag on Taguchi’s laps before taking the seat beside the blond. “Really? What story?”
Kame smiled. “Another birthday surprise at the set. They prepared a cake. Tego sang NEWS’ Happy Birthday for me - he changed the lyrics to ‘Kazuya no Happy Birthday’. They all gave me a bouquet of flowers, though there are some presents from the staffs and casts, as well.”
It was weird to be told this when Jin still remembered seeing all the presents and the bouquet on the back seat of Kame’s car very early in the morning but he nodded anyway. “How nice…”
“It’s nice to have a drama during your birthday, eh?” Taguchi commented as he grinned. “I would want one too!”
“Yes, try having a drama on next fall.” Kame encouraged him.
Koki rolled his eyes when Taguchi’s face turned like a delighted puppy at Kame’s encouragement. “You are giving him hopes. Don’t be too kind, Kazu…”
Jin could feel his jaw twitched at the calling ‘Kazu’ but he maintained his cool, expressionless face. He, Jin, was the only who called Kame ‘Kazu’. The others might call him that sometimes; ‘Kazu’ or ‘Kazu-chan’ but not in a casual way like Koki just did. He knew Koki was very close to Kame; but he didn’t expect them to be close enough for Koki to call Kame ‘Kazu’. For some reason, he didn’t like it.
Kame could sense the dangerous vibe again and hastily fished out his cell phone from his pocket. He stumbled with the keys for a while before finding what he was searching for. “Look - the cake. Funny, right? I don’t know I look like that.”
Six heads bent down together to take a look on Kame’s cell phone. Once they stole a glance on it, everyone cracked up. The cake looked like someone had been trying to paint Kame’s face with icing and failed badly. Actually, it looked nothing like Kame at all. But they were sure that Kame didn’t say anything about it, a sweet talker as he was.
“Actually… it looks a little like you, Kame.” Nakamaru teased.
Kame pouted. “Maru!!”
Ueda tilted his head to one side. “Yeah, it looks like you…”
Laughter erupted from all the members, even Jin had to suppress more than a chuckle at the look of Kame’s face. But the manager of the group had chosen the moment to knock on the door and informed them, “Guys, meeting in Room 1, now.”
The members rose and left the room one by one, except Jin who simply rolled his eyes at the order. Kame sighed at his attic. “You all go on first,” he told the others.
“Jin…” Kame started when the two of them were left alone.
Jin sighed and put on his sunglasses. “I know, I know… I’m going now.”
Kame sighed again. “You should stop this. It’s not like you are doing this for a year or two - how many years has it been?”
“You are only 24, don’t be such an old man, Kazuya.” Jin stressed the ‘Kazuya’ as he leaded both of them out from the room.
The younger boy rolled his eyes at the obvious hint of jealousy. Jin could be pretty jealous sometimes; it tended to make people misunderstood that both of them were more than best friends. “He doesn’t call me that usually; you should stop being such a girl. Ah, thanks for the present, anyway. I’ve wanted it all this time; how do you manage to find one?”
The mention of the present cheered up Jin a little. “Told you, I bought it in Korea. You should get out from the country once in a while…”
“There we go again… “Kame cut him off since they nearly arrived at the meeting room. “Make sure you sit apart from me; I won’t have you sleeping on me and be scolded about that again - which part of that is my fault?”
“Maybe the part you didn’t wake me up and let loose the fact that we were not fighting each other?” Jin replied ‘innocently’. “But it’s you who always sit beside me unconsciously, okay?”
“Geez, whatever, Akanishi. I’m sure Koki will save me a seat beside him, anyway.”
Jin huffed. “Fine. Fine, Kamenashi.”
Kame gave a hearty laugh before composing his look so it looked like he just had to bring the A to the meeting room. He had no idea why his drama always got low rating; he could act quite well, couldn’t he? It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard, either - he only had to pretend that this was some kind of drama he had to act on.
At the same time, Jin wiped off every hint of smile and happiness from his face and turned into the iron-masked Akanishi, like Ueda had wittily phrased. It was not easy, but it was not hard either - he just had to forget everything about Kame and his friends and thought about how badly treated had he been.
For both of them, it was not easy, but it wasn’t hard either.
Well, thanks for the comments in the previous one. They really motivate me to write more Akame! LOL. I have some ideas in mind - about Jin leaving for L.A., Kame not guesting in any of Jin's shows - things like that. Hopefully my homework won't take too much of my time for fandom~ =.=
