Prologue
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Ryo dragged his body up the stairs to his third floor apartment after a hard day at work. Why he had decided that getting the top floor of an apartment complex without an elevator was a good idea, he no longer knew. It wasn't even as if it was a nice apartment. The roof had so much water damage that the landlady hadn't bothered to fix that was likely to cave in at any second. But, he wouldn't have gotten a nicer apartment with a nice lobby and a doorman who could easily be bought, and then Ryo would have woken up dead one morning. No, his place was better simply because they weren't likely to look for him at a place this run-down. They knew he was a guy with high standards, and they would never think he was capable of lowering himself to living at a rat-infested place complete with coachroaches and faulty plumbing, but at least the people were friendly.
Hell, he had even managed to make some new friends, not like the ones he used to have that were just as likely to stab him in the back for a few extra dollars as they were to drink water. Now he had real friends and a real life, no more secrests, and no more alienating his family and friends. Now, he might even be able to see his new baby niece if he was careful enough. He's also been able to take up some hobbies that he's always wanted to try, but had never had the time. He took some cooking classes last year and now he can make something a bit more complex than cereal and instant ramen. One of his friends even bought him a guitar last Christmas and he had been teaching himself how to play.
He had a lot going for these days. Two years have gone by and they had yet been able to find him. He still had plenty left of his savings, and, besides his job at the cafe, he still had money coming in from a few of his investments that he had made over the years. Many people would have looked at his life and said he was a happy man. But, still, Ryo felt that he was missing something in his life, and he knew exactly what that was. He also knew, though, that he shouldn't dwell on the past, and that was all in his past now and he needed to move on with his life, somehow.
Ryo opened the door to find Hiroki Uchi standing in his apartment, but before Ryo could speak, Uchi jumped in.
"Hey, you wanna go drinking tonight?"
"You're not old enough to drink; they'd throw you out of the bar before you even took your first sip."
"Ok, well, one, nice to see you, too."
"You didn't give me a chance to say hello before you started talking, and it's not like you said hello to me either."
"OK, whatever, two, the law is just stupid."
"It's still the law, Hiroki."
"Shut up and let me finish!"
"Fine."
"Good. Now where was I? Oh, right the law is stupid. Three, my cousin owns a bar, and four, I have a fake ID so that should be sufficent enough."
"Ok, I'm going to ignore your law breaking tendencies for now, since I'm really tired, and I'm just going to go to bed...Wait, how the hell did you get into my apartment in the first place?!"
"Oh, well, that's easy. YOur landlady's daughter let me in. I think she likes me."
"Relax, Uchi, she's like that with all guys. She's kind of like a male-deprived dog in heat."
"You're clearly just jealous of our love!" Uchi said with a pout.
"Whatever, we can go out together another time, maybe to a movie or something since you're still too young to drink, but for tonight, I'm going to go to bed. Bye, Uchi."
"Ok. Bye." Uchi waved good-bye and walked out the door, closing it behing him as Ryo headed off to bed.

Ueda was quietly working on his report at his desk, when Subaru from Accounting came in.
"Hey, Ueda, what are you woking?"
"Nothing much, just finishing up a report. What are you doing here? We haven't seen you here in awhile."
"Yasuda sent me up here to talk to Kame about something."
"Oh, how are things down there?...Opps" Ueda asked as his pencil rolled of of his desk and into the place between his desk and the wall. Ueda got up to get his pencil and noticed a piece of paper next to his pencil that must have fallen of off his desk without his knowledge. He picked up the paper along with his pencil and looked at what seemed to be Ryo's handwritting.
"Oh, it looks as if you're busy. I guess I better be leaving now. Bye." Subaru left the room as a tiny smile played across his face.
"Yeah, bye." Ueda absent mindedly responded as he sat down and began reading the note from Ryo.
Dear Tatsuya,
I have loved you for quite some time now and I figured I should let you know. I hope you can some day return my feeling for you or at least be able to accept them.
Love always,
Ryo Nishikido
As he read the note, Ueda's heart fluttered in his chest, and Tatsuya did not fail to notice this. He also did not fail to notice how much he really missed Ryo. Ueda then realized that maybe Ryo was right, maybe he did have feelings for the younger, arrogant, self-centered, sexy man. It was then that Tatsuya knew he loved Ryo Nishikido. But, now it was too late, ryo was gone and Tatsuya was alone.
Ueda lethargically finished his report, handed it in and went home, just as the snow started to fall. Tatsuya entered his apartment and changed his clothes in favor of more comfortable, warmer clothes. He wrapped himself in a blanket and left his bedroom in order to sit on the ledge by the window. As he watched the snow fall gently outside his window, he thought about what his parents used to tell him when they left on a buisness trip in the winter. The gently falling snow carries people's messages of love. As the snowflakes gently fell, he hoped the snow would carry his message to the one he loved. I want to see you, I want to see you.
