Will Return to Sender
Ryo had no idea what came over him that day. It had started like it normally did; he woke up around 7, left the apartment around 8 and arrived at work about half an hour later. He met up with the rest of NewS for some dance practice and after about 4 hours it was time for lunch. It was during lunch time it happened. He had somehow been sent out to get lunch for all of them, which was the first unusual thing on that peculiar day since they always made Koyama get things for them. He had protested at first but to no success. When he had arrived down at the ground floor and started to make his way towards the exit that's when he saw him. He stopped in his move and stared at the lonely person sitting on one of the couches that had been placed there to give the lobby a kind of welcoming atmosphere. He looked kinda down and like he really needed someone to comfort him instead of sitting there alone. Where was his band? Was there a big argument in the band again?
The next thing Ryo knew he was sitting next to the other person and his arm wrapped itself around the other's shoulders.
"What the-?" Ueda asked shocked at the sudden touch and waking up from his deep thoughts. He turned to see who it was and when he saw Ryo his eyes widen in surprise. "Nishikido-kun?"
"That's me yeah" Ryo replied and smirked slightly pulling Ueda closer.
"What the hell are you doing?" Ueda said pushing Ryo's arm away from himself.
"What does it look like?" Ryo said rolling his eyes and his arm found his way around Ueda's shoulders again. "I'm trying to comfort you"
"You're what?" Ueda said pushing Ryo's arm away once again and moving away slightly. "Why would you do something like that?"
"You looked like you needed it" Ryo said moving in closer and this time he wrapped both his arms around the other's frame and pulled him in as close as possible. "You looked like you needed a hug"
Ueda didn't reply and Ryo took that as something positive and just a moment later he felt how the other relaxed into the hug and then how Ueda's arms wrapped themselves around his body. They sat there holding each other close for a few minutes before they untangled themselves.
"Thanks" Ueda said seemingly a bit uncertain on how to act around Ryo.
"No problems" Ryo said getting up from the couch and started to walk away. When he was by the door he turned around to look back at Ueda who now had a smile on his face and that was when Ryo realized what he had just done. He had hugged Ueda Freaking Tatsuya! It hit him like a snow blizzard and he froze. Why the hell had he done it?
The thoughts ran through his mind the rest of the day making it impossible for him to take in what the dance instructor showed him and even worse he found himself being the center of everyone's curious stares. He really didn't like the way they looked at him but he was thankful that no one had asked him what the matter with him was. Every time he tried to focus on what he was doing Ueda managed to sneak into his mind making him make a wrong step and almost losing his balance. Had the stupid fairy put some kind of spell on him? No, that could not be it after all there is nothing like fairies and magic, right? So that must mean that he was sick, yes that's it. He was sick and he should just go home and sleep it off.
A good night's sleep didn't do him anything good, it just made it worse. The whole night through he had dreamt about the hug and how great it had felt holding the other close like that. He had dreamt about how the smell of the others shampoo had intoxicated his mind in the best of ways. He got through the whole next day in the same state as he had spent his afternoon the previous day; in a total mess of thoughts and loss of balance.
On the fifth day of Ryo's total lack of being able to focus on work Yamapi confronted him during one of their afternoon breaks.
"Hey, what's been up with you recently?" Yamapi said sitting down in the chair opposite of Ryo down in the cafeteria.
"Uh, just a lot on my mind" Ryo muttered gripping his coffee cup firmly making his knuckles go white. He really didn't need anyone find out about his state, about how Ueda Tatsuya where always on his mind day and night.
"Anything you wanna talk about?" Yampi quizzed eyeing the man in front of him.
"No, it's nothing really" Ryo said putting the cup to his lips and took a sip of it. "Shit, that's hot!" he complained spiting the coffee back into his cup and met Yamapi's eyes filled with amusement.
"You should be careful before you seriously hurt yourself" Yampi commented before he got back up from his seat. "See you in a few"
Ryo sighed as he saw his band mate walk away and then looked back into his cup of coffee. What was happening with him? Why was he acting like this? Nothing of this made sense to him at all.
Weeks later Ryo still hadn't come to any conclusion on what was wrong with him but he had somehow come to terms with it and didn't let it bother him that Ueda slipped into his thoughts all the time. And he started to realize that Ueda's constant presence in his mind could work as a motivation and he started to work harder than ever before on everything. His change from unfocused to the greatest of concentration didn't go unnoticed by his band members this time either but they didn't say anything. They feared that if they broke his determined concentration that he might go back to being unfocused.
It was late one evening when Ryo found himself alone in the dressing room. He had worked hard all day and was so exhausted that he felt like he could fall asleep any moment. He quickly packed his bag and made it to the elevator. When he reached it he was met by the beautiful boy that had been on his mind for weeks but that he hadn't met in person, not even once, since that day in the lobby.
"Hi Nishikido-kun" Ueda smiled slightly while eyeing him carefully.
"Hi Ueda-kun" he replied feeling slightly nervous and gave the other a tired smile back.
"Tough day?" Ueda asked and Ryo almost thought he could hear slight concern in the others voice.
"Yeah" He answered trying to smirk but failed and then looked over at the elevator door.
Suddenly he felt how he was pulled into a hug and suddenly his energy got up to max. The warm body of Ueda was comforting and at the same time awkward but he didn't pull away. He let the other hold him close for a moment before he slowly let his arms wrap themselves around the other. He closed his eyes and didn't want to let go, this was nice, no better than nice. It was the best thing that had happened to him in weeks. The best thing that had happened to him since that day he had hugged Ueda. He pulled the other even closer showing the other that he didn't want them to let go any time soon. Ueda seemed to understand him and Ryo felt the other tighten his own arms around him.
"What was that?" Ryo had to ask when they slowly pulled away minutes later, or maybe hours he had no idea really.
"It seemed like you needed a hug" Ueda smiled. "And after the hug you gave me weeks ago I thought I should be the one to give it to you."
"Thanks" Ryo smiled back.
