Summary : Being gay or not isn't the issue here. It's about feelings. New emotions that bloom inside of you, the ones you never thought they existed.
You wonder and then you analyse. Do you really think you could fight this?
Inside the jimusho, people always assume that one is gay until proven otherwise.
Ryo was different though. He thought that every idol was straight, or has to be since Johnny told them beforehand that to be believable in the eyes of the public, you have to live a faithful life, or at least pretend to. He never dared question that "rule" since he was sure to be on the right path of life, ever since he was so popular with girls back in high school.
His identity crises happened at 16, when his best friend at the moment, confessed to him.
He thought that if his friend was in love with him, maybe that was because he had given him signals indicating he was interested too or that he was just gay.
But when the other was about to kiss him on impulse, Ryo pushed him away. It was a week after he retreated from school that he came back all refreshed and never spoke to his friend again.
During that escape from reality, he was brainwashed by his parents, they said that being homosexual wasn't a good thing, specially when he drew the attention of thousands of girls when onstage and on TV. Johnny himself drove to his place and explained to him why he should not pay attention to "weird" people when that ended up with Nishikido being away from the spotlight a little more than necessary.
Today, at 25, he discovered why his brain stopped functioning every time he encountered Ueda Tatsuya, the pianist and boxer from KAT-TUN.
Even years after their so-called feud, they still didn't interact with each other, not that they were not allowed to, but they have nothing to share and even if some of their friends were friends with each other, they thought that it'd be best not being together publicly.
Johnny said nothing about it, and even allowed them to meet, but of course, they should not be seen.
It's not that the Osakan disliked Ueda or hated him, he just never had the chance to meet him when in the jimusho. Trust Nishikido's schedule to make him be busy all the time, and Ueda being either with KAT-TUN or just outside.
Sometimes when Jin would come over and talk about his band mates, Ryo would not even budge at the mention of "Ueda Tatsuya", because that's not something to react over right? Stories about how Jin got scolded by Ueda and sometimes ending in a fight only resulted in Ryo saying he doesn't care, and a mere "ha ha Jin you're both short-tempered guys!"; that would be all.
All in all Jin rarely talks about his group unless he got really pissed off, he and Ryo have other friends and Jin's not all about Kame like back in 2005.

Osaka.
After hours of practicing his guitar in his home and feeling very exhausted, he dragged his body to the shower, hoping the hot water would release him from the sore muscles he felt, being seated in the same position for too long.
Tomorrow he has to go back to Tokyo for NewS's activities and he's already hurried to meet his friends, because he needs the sanity of his Kanto colleagues after having spent a week with his family from Kanjani8. A good meal made by his mother and he was off to sleep.
Morning came, he packed a few clothes, takes his guitar and off to the station. He leaves a note to his mother saying he enjoyed last night's meal.
He'll go to the nearest convini to buy some green tea and vitamins for the trip.
3 hours of riding the shinkansen and he was in Tokyo.
Without dropping by his pad, he made his way straight to the agency, he crossed Ueda there. He didn't think he'd see the other that early in the morning but when their eyes met, he thought that feeling this hot in this weather was not normal. He blamed it on the fast walk he had from the station.

Ueda Tatsuya is a straight guy, always said it and it's not because he's acting girly and looks girly that he is a girl. He's definitely looking for a woman to marry her and have children.
He’s said this in so many interviews already; he'd be the money-maker in the family and the wife would wait for him at home, dinner ready.
He’s never had a boy crush his whole life, and fan-boying Gackt is not a crush, it's just being a fan.
Poor him though, he wanted girls around him as a child, too bad he was in an all-boys school.
Let's say him repeating about his sorry years having to watch only boys makes you want to pity him for not having a relationship before he turned 16. He was too busy at the time with school and extra lessons. He is thankful now though, he's a talented musician, he can play the piano and the guitar, and he's been learning to box for more than 3 years now.
He's an accomplished human, in a blossoming way. Plus he seems way happier than before he started taking those boxing lessons.
I think we could say Ueda Tatsuya is a full grown-up with maturity showing along with still childish reactions. And he's pretty.
Ueda has a few friends in the agency, very close ones, whom he hangs out with from time to time; but he doesn't hang out with other Johnnys. He has many friends from other horizons, like from his solo con and from childhood. For that matter, people started to say he was becoming like his sempai from V6, Okada who barely hangs out with colleagues, except from Nagase and the Kinki brothers.
Well, not like he cared anyway.
He's been traveling a lot with Nakamaru Yuichi, his best friend from his group. They get along pretty well, Ueda being a do-S and the other being a total do-M. The only matter is they cared for each other for years now and it's a good feeling having to work with people you get along with. The work atmosphere is always a thing to take account.
Sometimes they would hang out with NewS's Masuda because he would tag along...nice and weird trio, you'd say? Hmm, they would probably say no but then Okura from Kanjani8 would join too.
Ueda calls him Tacchon and the latter tried boxing once, but Ueda never had the patience to train him at his place, and Okura being too sleepy sometimes he couldn't manage the simplest exercises.
That's why he focused on the drums that one time Ueda got mad and screamed "If you can't even swing a fist in my direction because you're too busy eating, go do what you do best!".
That one time was when Tacchon learned not to piss off a girly boxer. The result? They don't hang out much anymore. But he can always tag along if they have a friend in common to talk to; that doesn't happen often though...

Tuesday, 8am.
Ueda arrives at the agency with a handful of hot coffee from the Starbucks around the corner. If there's something Jin has brought from his American trip, it's the Starbucks virus. Coffees in the morning. Of course one could argue about them being Japanese and green tea being the best, but you can't discuss these things this early in the morning. Too much angst could ensue from just a coffee talk. Remember the cream happening? Fists were involved, so no.
Before he entered the building he walked on someone he didn't see coming. Well Ueda had his sunglasses on, and a hoodie. The other had only a cap on his head but he was looking down, like he didn't want to see where he was going...like an idol wanting to hide from fan-girls?
"Nishikido?!" Is what he thought and shouted.
Never, in the past few years, had he come across him. Only at Countdown and maybe some magazine’s photo shoot, where they would pass each other in the studio or when either Yamapi or Jin would be around him. Other than that, no encounter.
He hasn't talked to him for ages and although the other's a colleague from the same agency, there are hundreds of them right? They don't have to meet; so what would one say to someone who works in the same line of work but you never interact with? "Excuse me!" not in a shy awkward way, because they're too old for that, but in a "sh*t-I-spilled-coffee-on-you" embarrassed way.

"Didn’t you see me?!" Was Ryo's retort, but it was not full of hatred, it had an embarrassed feeling.
"Well of course not, otherwise I wouldn't have bumped into you Nishikido-kun!" Ueda responded, his eyebrows twitching.
The only thing that follows in the next minute is silence and then a good laugh from both of them.
"Oh well, I assume your sunglasses are so big you can't see a damn thing!"
"Well look at you, mister ‘the floor is way more interesting than what's in front of you’!"
"I suppose you're going in? You have work?"
"Well duh! You too I presume and as I can see you're coming straight from Osaka..."
"Yeah but not until later...How d'you guess?"
"Jin told me before you always have this weird bag when you've just got back to Tokyo"
"It's not weird! It's called customized! You should try it too you know, it's the latest trend! Ah but you're showing off enough with all your accessories."
"I guess you could say that, they look pretty on me anyway."
"Are you a girl then?!"
"Hm, I stopped fighting the girly look a while ago now. It fits me so what the hell?"
"Anyway I think we should go inside whether than staying here in the cold cause the coffee is not warm anymore and I'm freezing."
Ueda nodded and they entered the building.
Once inside, they went to the restroom and started cleaning themselves. Ryo was more wounded. Coffee all over his pants and shirt. Ueda had bought 6 cups after all including the one he was holding on one hand.
So that was hot coffee the Osakan felt earlier on, not some weird emotion he should not be even thinking about. That explains it all and it's a good conclusion.
20 minutes later, Jin called Ueda and asked why he was so late in getting his favorite coffee. You could hear Jin's pouting over the phone and Ueda mentally smacking himself for forgetting about the cups, and that he should go again. That's when Ryo popped up from the shower he's been taking, saying he would go and buy them cause he's not working this morning, he just wanted to check the schedules. Ueda was pleased to hear that he wouldn't have to go again and thanked Ryo. He bade a "see ya later" to his savior and went to his own band room. He then apologized to Jin, explaining the situation he'd been in and said that Nishikido would drop by later with the coffees and that in the meantime, they should all drink green tea like any Japanese would. That earned him some pouts on one part, but a thumbs up from Kame and Koki. Junno laughed too hard for this.
None of them were even surprised Ryo and Ueda had been talking earlier on, and god knows for how long, they just thought that it wasn't worth mentioning. They talked as colleagues when they happened to meet. Again, there was no reason to see anything more into it. Civility is needed in this line of work and they're both old enough to act professionally.
What was weird that day was Ueda asking Ryo out for some hot drink to make up for his ruined clothes. Don't get them wrong, they're civil with each other but they don't have to hang out right?
At the end of the day, they went to buy some hot tea together and ended up in an izakaya for some yakitori and beer, talking about how their day went, and so on. Ryo even thought Ueda could be a good buddy if they were to call each other from time to time, and occasionally, double date. To that Ueda said it could happen, but he rarely dates anyone. That led to the Osakan wondering if the KAT-TUN member was interested in boys...

On a sunny but cold Sunday, both idols met at a cafe with a date each. Both were girls. Sometimes you would see all of them make out, still hidden by their caps and sunglasses.
Surprised by their new friendship, Ueda pulled Ryo into a corner and asked him if they were supposed to be open about it, but the other indicated that unless Johnny permits it, no way they can. It would discredit the "war" the boss had made them show off in the past for ratings.
The pony-tailed idol pouted but he knows it can't be helped.
Many weeks passed and they could not see each other due to their schedules until one day Ryo realizes he can't stop a new feeling from forming in his not-gay heart. He was addicted to seeing Ueda Tatsuya every once in a while, and every girl he would bring to their dates would only be an accessory. They got along so well it finally made sense in his head, he was fond of the other but couldn't rightly put a word to it; he should find out probably sooner because he's not a patient being, he needs answers fast so he doesn't sulk too much. The worst that could happen is Ueda and him being "enemies" again, and that he could manage.
Ueda on the other hand, was growing fond of Ryo too but he knew it couldn't be anything more than friendly love because he's been straight all his life, and he hasn't had the same amount of girls as Jin and Ryo himself, he wants his share! Hm, acting like a kid; he thinks but he needs to be sure.
When Ryo left for Osaka for more than a week, that's when Ueda felt weird and grasped onto his heart every time he felt a twinge when Jin or Yamapi mentioned Ryo was probably dating someone new.
Days later and the other was back in town, they planned for a date and met again, with no girls this time. They had to talk.
"So you're back in Tokyo. How was Osaka and why didn't you bring anyone today?"
"Well I’m not dating anyone at the moment, so obviously there is no one. What about you? You're freer than before nowadays right?"
"Yes I don't have a drama anymore, and I'll probably never have another one since the ratings were so bad for my acting start...but I am busy. You know, with boxing and the group as usual."
"Hm, yeah I saw that. Don't be so down. They'll give you a new opportunity, probably when you don't even think about it anymore. Like SURPRISE!"
"Ha ha, you're cute Nishikido, thank you. ^_^"
"Hey! I'm not cute, I'm sexy." He smirked. "Anyway so, hum, let me get straight to the point."
Ueda nodded.
"I'm straight."
Ueda nodded again; but this time he was taken aback by the confession. "Huh?!"
"I said I'm straight, as in not gay, okay?"
"Nishikido, you're creeping me out; you're straight, that's good because I am too!"
"Eh?! How come?"
"What do you mean how come? I've been straight all my life! What about you?!!!"
"Well I have been straight all my life too!"
This awkward and never ending talk became even more weird when Ryo suddenly took Ueda's hand and wrapped it in his own.
"Ueda...I think I have feelings for you. The ones I shouldn't be having because I'm a straight guy and this is not normal. We've been hanging out quite often now and I think we even became good friends. But lately I felt something more and I wanted to be sure about it and now when I hold your hand, I'm certain I lo~"
"Shut uppp~! Don't say it first!"
"First?"
"Yeah...I...I've been wanting to say the same to you actually. I'm not gay, but I have feelings for you too. I don't know what to call it though, cause I'm definitely sure I still love women, and I still want a traditional marriage and I want kids and...but right now, I can feel my heart beating faster after you took my hand."
"I don't know what to say...I still like women too, but this is new."
"Hn. I lo~"
"No don’t say it either! We should wait. Actually I think we could do something to find out about our feelings. Like hanging out more and see if this grows bigger?"
"Gee Nishikido, are you in my head now and reading all my thoughts?!"
Ueda pouted and Ryo just grinned.
After a relatively long talk, they decided they would "date" for another month, and see what's in it for them. No girls allowed though, only the two of them, hanging out, eating together, watching movies together and so on...

Lately Ryo's been hanging with Kusano and Jin to go clubbing, along with some American guy the former member of NewS introduced to them.
Nightclubs are good places to flirt with the opposite sex.
"Yay, girls for straight guys."
That's what he keeps mumbling when a girl approaches him these days, he has to remind himself it's for the sake of his parents' grandchildren.
On Ueda's side, it was only boxing and going out with friends, some girls invited but never more than a chaste kiss. He never felt like going further with them. "Boxing is my lady!" he would excuse them with; to that his friends would laugh and tease about whether he had someone already...
A few days later, they double dated again, with Tacchon as Ryo's girl, and Kame as Ueda's. It was rather funny seeing them from afar, luckily for them paparazzi never spotted them. If only they knew the "girls" were actually guys...
They were in a restaurant, being chatty and all, Ryo and Ueda being in between of Okura on Ryo's right side, and Kame on Ueda's left side.
Sometimes when their fingers would touch, you could see them blushing and stop being talkative.
"I love you Tatsuya", "I love you Ryo" in chorus were whispered.
Kamenashi had given them an approved smile and wink whereas Okura was just munching as usual but in between bites he said: "Now that you've confessed and we have a friend in common, can I tag along on your dates?"
Of course that earned him a smack from Kame who stood up just for that purpose and two glares from the new couple.

They got along so well it finally made sense in his head, he was fond of the other but couldn't rightly put a word to it; he should find out probably sooner because he's not a patient being, he needs answers fast so he doesn't sulk too much. The worst that could happen is Ueda and him being "enemies" again, and that he could manage.
Ueda on the other hand, was growing fond of Ryo too but he knew it couldn't be anything more than friendly love because he's been straight all his life, and he hasn't had the same amount of girls as Jin and Ryo himself, he wants his share! Hm, acting like a kid; he thinks but he needs to be sure.
When Ryo left for Osaka for more than a week, that's when Ueda felt weird and grasped onto his heart every time he felt a twinge when Jin or Yamapi mentioned Ryo was probably dating someone new.
Days later and the other was back in town, they planned for a date and met again, with no girls this time. They had to talk.
"So you're back in Tokyo. How was Osaka and why didn't you bring anyone today?"
"Well I’m not dating anyone at the moment, so obviously there is no one. What about you? You're freer than before nowadays right?"
"Yes I don't have a drama anymore, and I'll probably never have another one since the ratings were so bad for my acting start...but I am busy. You know, with boxing and the group as usual."
"Hm, yeah I saw that. Don't be so down. They'll give you a new opportunity, probably when you don't even think about it anymore. Like SURPRISE!"
"Ha ha, you're cute Nishikido, thank you. ^_^"
"Hey! I'm not cute, I'm sexy." He smirked. "Anyway so, hum, let me get straight to the point."
Ueda nodded.
"I'm straight."
Ueda nodded again; but this time he was taken aback by the confession. "Huh?!"
"I said I'm straight, as in not gay, okay?"
"Nishikido, you're creeping me out; you're straight, that's good because I am too!"
"Eh?! How come?"
"What do you mean how come? I've been straight all my life! What about you?!!!"
"Well I have been straight all my life too!"
This awkward and never ending talk became even more weird when Ryo suddenly took Ueda's hand and wrapped it in his own.
"Ueda...I think I have feelings for you. The ones I shouldn't be having because I'm a straight guy and this is not normal. We've been hanging out quite often now and I think we even became good friends. But lately I felt something more and I wanted to be sure about it and now when I hold your hand, I'm certain I lo~"
"Shut uppp~! Don't say it first!"
"First?"
"Yeah...I...I've been wanting to say the same to you actually. I'm not gay, but I have feelings for you too. I don't know what to call it though, cause I'm definitely sure I still love women, and I still want a traditional marriage and I want kids and...but right now, I can feel my heart beating faster after you took my hand."
"I don't know what to say...I still like women too, but this is new."
"Hn. I lo~"
"No don’t say it either! We should wait. Actually I think we could do something to find out about our feelings. Like hanging out more and see if this grows bigger?"
"Gee Nishikido, are you in my head now and reading all my thoughts?!"
Ueda pouted and Ryo just grinned.
After a relatively long talk, they decided they would "date" for another month, and see what's in it for them. No girls allowed though, only the two of them, hanging out, eating together, watching movies together and so on...

Lately Ryo's been hanging with Kusano and Jin to go clubbing, along with some American guy the former member of NewS introduced to them.
Nightclubs are good places to flirt with the opposite sex.
"Yay, girls for straight guys."
That's what he keeps mumbling when a girl approaches him these days, he has to remind himself it's for the sake of his parents' grandchildren.
On Ueda's side, it was only boxing and going out with friends, some girls invited but never more than a chaste kiss. He never felt like going further with them. "Boxing is my lady!" he would excuse them with; to that his friends would laugh and tease about whether he had someone already...
A few days later, they double dated again, with Tacchon as Ryo's girl, and Kame as Ueda's. It was rather funny seeing them from afar, luckily for them paparazzi never spotted them. If only they knew the "girls" were actually guys...
They were in a restaurant, being chatty and all, Ryo and Ueda being in between of Okura on Ryo's right side, and Kame on Ueda's left side.
Sometimes when their fingers would touch, you could see them blushing and stop being talkative.
"I love you Tatsuya", "I love you Ryo" in chorus were whispered.
Kamenashi had given them an approved smile and wink whereas Okura was just munching as usual but in between bites he said: "Now that you've confessed and we have a friend in common, can I tag along on your dates?"
Of course that earned him a smack from Kame who stood up just for that purpose and two glares from the new couple.

A/N : I was bored at work, two weeks ago, when I had an idea. I started to type and then this came out. It's my first one. Hope I didn't suck too much. I know it's not great but I needed this out.
