what is a good external hardrive manufacturer/brand? my desktop's mother board is fizzling out (it's about 4-5 years old) so i'm looking to transfer all the stuff from it unto an external hardrive that i can plug into my laptop (30gb). Is this a good idea? are there significantly better brands than others? Leave a comment

You can borrow mine for a bit if you just want to transfer.

With a processor/motherboard combo from fry's, unless you have a crappy dell, you'll then be able to upgrade your desktop for about the same price as a decent external harddrive.

But if you really want an external hard drive, I would suggest a Western Digital MyBook.
