Gippal decided to tell Nooj on the day that he brought Jarl back from a trip to visit Home. Often, Gippal did this sort of thing for Nooj and Paine’s oldest son - the boy loved to travel, and Gippal had a sort of affection for the young man anyway. He was much like his mother, who Gippal had the same sort of affection for. Besides, Jarl ( Read more... )

Please, what does 'joss' mean? i would like ot know if I am doing it. ;)

To be metaficced is one of the most sincere compliments a writer can receive. Than another writer would be moved to pick up on the events of a story and follow them to a separate conclusion is proof positive that the story struck a nerve and that is what we are all aiming at.

The conclusion Gippal draws here is unique and one that could only have arisen from a deep understanding of the way the Al Bhed thinks. Or maybe of the way the Al Bhed, as a race, think. It is intriguing and I may very well meta you back and explore this thought on my own. Hah! Your final sentence is a stunner and a terrific starting point. We may end up playing tag. LOL

Anyway, thank you for finding our work so fascinating that it inspired your own. It is extremely pleasant to see you working again.

To be "joss"ed is when you write a fic based on something that is canonly incomplete, and then something that happens in a new episode (or chapter, or whatever) in canon completely negates everything in your fic. (i.e. you're writing a fic based on a TV series, you finish it on Monday, and then in the new episode on Tuesday, one of the major characters dies).

It was named after Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.

I left my comment in your writing journal. BTW: why did you start a new writing journal when you had breaks_the_sky_? Are you reserving that one for NaNoWriMo?

Yes. That one is just for that particular novel, and I don't want to disturb it.

(Plus -- the draw of the clever username. I'll admit my weakness!)

I suspected as much.

You said you devised the "Switch" story to showcase cliches. Well, my friend, I think it got away from you and somehow turned into a serious work. And your girl-child is the obvious perfect mate for Jarl! ;)

I think that was the point; how cliches and bad ideas can indeed be incorporated into a serious work if done properly! (I vaguely remember saying something like "really bad ideas should not be left to amateurs"!)

I don't know if I'm that confident about its success now, but I am proud that I pulled off mpreg without anyone really complaining!
