Interesting. I've always wondered about that. I mean, about kids having to endure the legacy of their parents. Muhammad Ali has a daughter who is a boxer. Bruce Lee had a son. John Lennon had a son. Elvis Presley's daughter came out as a musician some years ago. Their work will always be held to a higher standard, no matter how good it is. People will always bring up their fathers in interviews and conversation. This probably makes it harder for them to prove themselves, or just pushes them away from the public eye, makes them want to stay out of the game completely. So I wonder if Ryuhei's initial refusal to be an actor was an attempt to avoid being compared to his father. I wonder also if Yusaku Matsuda's daughter chose to stay out of the spotlight, or if she is ignored, or if she doesn't care, or if she was too young to remember him, if she even knows he was her father.

Yusaku was already in his 30s when Ryuhei came along. The chances are pretty good that his daughter remembers him better than his oldest son. Ryuhei was 6, so the daughter could have been twice that age. To be honest, I take with a grain of salt what I read about Yusaku, because of the simple fact that so many "reports" are conflicting. For example, IMDB.com states that he had two marriages before Miyuki and a child with each, and that Miyuki had 3 kids. That would mean that Yusaku had 5 children altogether, not 3. Then there are reports that he and Miyuki had 3 children (I have read this one repeatedly) but when have we ever heard of any of her kids besides Ryuhei and Shota? I also take with a grain of salt the comments about his "ignoring" his elder daughter because I read an article a while back written by his former wife (wish I could find it!!) where she basically talked about what a phenomenal superstar he was, how great and sexy he was, and that he was so irresistable that she could hardly blame him for his infidelities because ( ... )

Well, then it's good to hear that his ex-wife may not totally hate him. Time heals everything, I guess.

But yeah, it's hard to find reliable sources on the Internet. I could never figure out the Matsuda family tree myself. Imdb.com often gets things wrong. And they WILL post information based on hearsay and rumors. They also used to link a fan site as Ryuhei's official site on his biography page. Don't know if they ever changed that.

Not to drive this into the ground, but I just checked a source and saw that Miyuki was born in 1961. Ryuhei was born in 1983. That means Miyuki was 22 when she had him--she did not become pregnant with him at 18, thus forcing Yusaku to have to marry her as the Chinese article states.
